Culpepper a cheeshead? Sounds good to me!
Packers eyeing Culpepper as reserve QB?
Daunte Culpepper, one of the Green Bay Packers' chief rivals from his days with the Minnesota Vikings, could be the favorite to become Aaron Rodgers' top backup.
The 31-year-old veteran quarterback visited the Packers Wednesday, and the two sides could strike a deal before this weekend's draft. Culpepper arrived in Green Bay on Tuesday evening and spent most of today at the team's facility.
"We had him in for a visit, and it was a good visit," General Manager Ted Thompson said late this afternoon. "We wanted to kind of introduce ourselves to him and he to us, so it went fine."

Here are some comments that I just pulled off the Packers Blog. I agree...
My first reaction when I heard that Daunte Culpepper was visiting the Green Bay Packers? Laughter. As in, "There's no way Ted Thompson signs Culpepper." Look, Culpepper got a raw deal with the Dolphins (Nick Saban rushed Culpepper back way too soon) and in the right offense I still think he's capable of being a good quarterback. But the Packers' West coast offense is the completely wrong scheme for Culpepper to be in. He needs to be in a Scott Linehan, Al Davis, Don Coryell-type stretch-the-field-vertically offense with tons of five- and seven-step drops.
In case no one has watched the Packers under Mike McCarthy, they don't do that very much. And blend in the fact that basically every pass route is an option route where the QB and WR have to see the same thing and react the same way, well, that has never been Culpepper's forte. He's a chuck-it-down-the-field type guy whose accuracy has actually been underrated. He's a pretty accurate deep and mid-range thrower. Just not very good underneath where the Packers make their living.
Oh, and Culpepper has small hands and has always had trouble holding onto the ball. Imagine him trying to do that in December up here. Yikes. There's a reason why the Packers like QBs with big hands and long arms. Culpepper doesn't fit either bill.

Whoever said that was as confused with the Packers under Favre as he is about Ted Thompson.Culpepper will fit in well as a backup with an offense designed for Aaron Rodgers if his knee problem isnt a big concern..

Yes alive,I heard he wants out but I doubt very much the Pack will trade away a top draft pick for a 30 year old receiver.

We shall see. I see the Pack looking for back-up QB help in the draft at some point, a trade after the draft and even Nall could be used in a pinch. Culpepper carried a one-fumble-per-game average and that was in a dome. Imagine him at Green Bay when it's below freezing....

I dont know Gman,so I looked it up and heres what I found... From 2005-Over the last couple years, Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper has flourished at Lambeau Field, silencing any claims that the dome QB couldn’t perform on frozen tundra.
Culpepper, who will have season-ending knee surgery next week, has thrown 11 touchdowns in his last three trips to Green Bay without any interceptions. The result helped Minnesota walk out of Green Bay with a win and a pocket full of cash three straight times.
In his last start in Green Bay, Culpepper threw four touchdowns on 19-of-29 passing to help his Vikings bounce back from a 17-0 halftime deficit to win the NFC Wild Card game 31-17.

Culpepper had a dandy, but he's not a hardened criminal. That infamous Love Boat party comes immediately to mind, LOL

Well, it looks like the Cowboys are trying to add another convict to the roster. And in a year or so they can offer Clarett a deal too!!!
And Vick after that when he gets out......
I think anyone who wants to take a chance on Culpepper would want to have his knee checked out REAL close. I suspect it's still worse than anyone lets on....

I would think there should be plenty of time before that last cutoff date to find out about if he's healthy enough alive. You know, the contract stipulation thing.

right J...but he was a damn good QB before he trashed his knee, and hasn't been anything since. Having gone through 2 major knee surgeries myself (admittedly long ago!!) I can tell you there's a mental thing to it too. Some bounce back (Carson Palmer for instance) & some never do.

Of course there were/are only 2 who were/are draftable this year... I find it hard to believe that out of a squad of perhaps 100 players, only two were seniors....

I wish they would make them stay untill after the Sr season..Some do choose, and I give them all the credit in the world
Years ago a freshman couldnt even play football. untill sometimes in the 70s..unlike NCAA basketball, leave as a Frosh, or just skip college..talet level goes down..in most cases In both collage and Pro.Basketball, one reason you see alot of european players..
Just a thought.
And why was the Pats given premission..to trade for a 1st round pick? I thought it was taken away from them Then got my guy Jerod Mayo from the Vols..grrr Did I not hear it right they lost a 1st round pick, because of spy-gate??
