It's postseason time again. After an awful start, the LSU Fighting Tigers ripped off a school record 20 straight wins and won the SEC Tournament. Alex Box stadium is not finished yet. Time to host a regional and be in line to host a super if they win.
A trip back to Omaha sounds good.

HEY METRY... I got to broadcast the Mcneese game from the BOX in April. I wasn't impressed with LSU that night. But, it was early in the STREAK, and, it was a mid week game. I watched bits and pieces of the games from the SEC tournament, and you can see a little "magic" we saw in the 90's.... And, the regional in Baton Rouge is winnable for the Tigers. Not sold on Omaha yet....
Looking forward to the new BOX next season. I got to do a game from the new Turchen at Tulane this season.

If both LSU and UNO do their job, they could face each other in a Super-Regional. That could make for a great Louisiana series.

My bad. LSU and UNO are both in the Baton Rouge Regional. It can be only one.
Tulane, however is on the other side of the bracket. I don't know if they have what it takes this year. It would be very difficult. But at least this year there is actually a chance, as slim as it is, for Tulane and LSU to face each other for the Championship in Omaha.

After it all looked ugly Sunday, after having lost on Saturday, my Tigers came roaring back to win Sunday afternoon to force a game 3 Monday. Last night, the LSU Fighting Tigers dismantled the UC Irvine Anteaters 21-7. The bats were blazin'.
What a fitting way to retire the old Alex Box Stadium. And the Tigers are headed back to where they belong....Omaha.
LSU will first face the North Carolina Tarheels in the College World Series. North Carolina is very good. Then again, all of the teams at the CWS are very good. That's why they are there.

Gongrats Metry..always the SEC I had to mention Tennessee mens sports won 1st in all over sports Which sports? According to the NCAA, as of spring 2007 Tennessee had a total of 6 men's championships.
USC has 73, UCLA has 70, and Stanford has 58. Those are the top three in men's sports in the NCAA, SEC? Hahahahaha!!!!
LSU is listed with 16 men's championships. I like and appreciate the SEC (particularly in football), but those numbers I quoted don't lie.

CAPO...I believe he was refering to the 2008 SEC all sports trophy. Do those championships you refered to include water polo, mens volleyball, or surfing??? Not a defender of the SEC, they have more than their fair share, but, I would imagine some of those championships include sports SEC schools do not even play!!!

To be fair, and counting only men's sports, the NCAA breakdowns are as follows:
LSU:
baseball: 5 boxing: 1 golf: 4 indoor track & field: 2 outdoor track & field: 4
Tennessee:
cross country: 1 swimming & diving: 1 indoor track & field: 1 outdoor track & field: 3
USC: baseball: 12 gymnastics: 1 swimming & diving: 9 tennis: 16 indoor track & field: 2 outdoor track & field: 26 volleyball: 4 water polo: 3

We knew that the winner would be the Bulldogs.
As much as I would love to see a SEC team win (of course, my Tigers being my first choice ), I am happy for Fresno State. It's nice to see a team that was completely of the radar for quite awhile come up and kick some tail. Congratulations to the Bulldogs!
