"fake" depends on your perception. back in the day...yes - they used to try and pretend is was "real life stuff". Nowadays, they don't even try to pretend it's real. Basically, it's a soap opera for guys (and some girls watch too, of course).
See even though the "human drama" is orchestrated, the athleticism is not fake at all. these wrestlers are probably in better shape than most any athlete going. things they go - can severly damage their bodies.
i think wrestling is truly an art. truth be told, the matches themselves are the most boring part, it's the soap opera appeal that i enjoy. but again, wrestling is an art and people get real pains and real injuries.
you just have to accept it for what it is, nothing less - nothing more...

I've watched werstling since I was a kid. I have been wrestling on the independent circuit for a little over 6 months now.
Fake is not a good word to use when describing what actually goes on inside the ring. The people that think its fake need to step into the ring and take a few bumps. We had a person show up at the arena I train in and he started running his mouth about how wrestling is fake. When we got tired of hearing him run his mouth we invited him in the ring. After about 3 minutes he had a totally new out look on what happend inside the ring.

Lay the "You need lives" comment someplace else. If have the people who slam wrestling tried to do just the excercise regimen these guys and gals do daily they would sing a different tune.
My brother wrestles in one of the many local circuts in the area and around out state. My cousin in another, these guys have normal jobs 9 to 5 and make time to train and do this.
The realization that you are not going to strike it rich at this and any normal cash will not come until you are known is a certainty. Though they do it anyway I think people who go through adversity to give others happiness rock.
When "mor_725" said she felt tricked that it was fake and now does not like to watch. How fake is it, I am 7ft all and over 400 pounds, and when I took a hit off the top rope to the ground and had 3 guys nail me from the opposing posts, let me tell you I was not thinking "Oh this is so fake".
Yeah let a guy the size of the Giant smack you or step on you or for that matter throw you off the ropes, sure they know how to land, though that still does not take away from the danger, and the realness of it.
This was always meant to be a show, most of those guys are heros all the time, lend you there last buck kind of people. They come out there and do there best day in and day out for what ? I can tell you it is not the money, it is all the fans.
My point look at Hogan, likely the most popular that I can remember, he has money though he not only did the wrestling he grew fan support and did movies and music videos, you really need the fans behind you to make it.
Argh that gets me, people think it is so fake. I dare anyone on this board to go to a tryout. If you last 20 minutes in the ring, I would be shocked.
Man, Taker fell from the top of that steel cage, HOW DO YOU FAKE THAT INITAL PAIN ??? You Don't

I just wanted to make a public "thank you" to Eddie Guerrero. I didn't know you personally, but you came into my living room and put your body on the line and battled your demons to entertain myself and legions of fans. I have no problems stating that my heart dropped, just as it did upon mentioned of Owen Wilson's death many years ago, my heart dropped at the mention of your passing.
You have touched many lives just by taking people like me away from our problems, by the fantasy of wrestling.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless - you will sorely be missed!!!

The loss of Eddie Guerrero is truely a sad one for all wrestling fans. Eddie was a excellent preforer, a great man, and had a good family. I met him once before a show in Indy he took time to sign autographs and sit and talk to us for about 20 minutes. He was a great man thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

LOL, Don't you mean Owen Hart? ( not Owen Wilson ). Yes, believe it or not, Miss Jean is also a wrestleing fan. Have been since the Iron Shieke/ Hulk Hogan days. Ahhh, the good ole days.. We also cant forget the suicide of Brian Pillman. That was very sad.
RIP E.G.
