Ok, I would like to know,
Is Bob Sanders still devastating offensive players who dare come into his area of coverage?
At Iowa, the first time he hit someone, you knew as long as he remained healthy that opposing offenses were going to be rightfully terrified of him.

As it turns out, Bob Sanders is the one who is devastated. So far this year, he has missed six of ten games, due to injury and he is not expected to play this week either. Sanders is only 27 and when he is healthy, he is a beast, but given his injury history, his career may be cut short.
Believe it or not, the best cover corner in the league is probably Nnamdi Asomugha, of the Raiders. His numbers aren't flashy, only 1 int & 5 passes defended so far this year. Then again, in the first seven games of the season, opposing QB's only attempted a total of six passes to the guy he was covering. It's hard to intercept passes, when QB's refuse to throw the ball to the side of the field that you are on.
For safeties, I would say Troy Polamalu of Pittsburgh is the best in the game now. Like Sanders, Polamalu has injury issues (concussions), but he is one bad man & a spectacular athelete. Take a look at the int he had this weekend against Philly.

DeShea Townsend of the Pittlsburg Steelers is headed for the Hall of Fame. He has been a lockdown cornerback for the Steelers' organization since he was drafted in 1998. To have a 10-year career (and still going) at the CB position is rare. To be such a reliable defender for that period is even rarer.
