This was a thread comment, but I thought this deserved it's own thread. His contract is up. And word is he wants to go to a contender. Would you like to see him on your team?

Like Shaq, Kidd is a shadow of the player that he was in his prime. He is slow, can't defend against younger, quicker players & he is a career 40% shooter. Unlike Shaq, Kidd is a team player. He is a great passer and he would be a great addition to most any roster, as a back up point guard, if he could be signed for a mid level exception. Much beyond that, I can't see spending the money on a player, who is at best a short term patch.
My guess is that Kidd will try to get a ring, before he retires. His best bet for that is either in LA or Boston. Kidd would be a very nice upgrade from Starbury for Boston. I think LA is a bit less likely, as they already have an old point guard & need to get younger there. I guess he could join Shaq & go to Cleveland. If he does, I expect that he & Shaq, would be much like Karl Malone & Gary Payton were, with the Lakers, back in 03-04 season. He might get them to the finals, but no chance of their winning it. Trying to build your future around two old guys, who just can't run the court anymore, is a recipe for disappointment.
So, would I want Kidd on my team? In a back up role certainly. As a starter? Not so much.

The Cavs are set at point guard...2 good ones actually...
The Cavs need a young power forward that can play some D and a 2 guard that can hit some 3's.
Kidd will not become a cav.

With the Cavs..Shaq will not like playing 2nd fiddle to Lebron...much less have Kidd on the team. Shaq will be too busy writing a rap song about Lebron at the end of the year

I wouldn't mind seeing him in LA, and he'd be an upgrade over the current roster, but I don't see it happening. Right now the Lakers seem to be determined to go into next season with the exact same roster as last season.

Right now the Lakers seem to be determined to go into next season with the exact same roster as last season. Since the Lakers traded their first round pick, they will likely have a roster slot available & will likely use the mid level exception to sign a veteran player. I had thought Kidd to be a good possibility for that, but from what I am reading tonight, Ron Artest may well be headed to LA. If they do get Artest, then losing either Bynum or Ariza won't really matter.
