Posts: 8,163 The first to be jettisoned is Trevor Ariza. I can't blame the kid. He's 24, and this is likely to be the biggest contract of his career. So taking mid-level exception isn't really in his best interest. As a Laker fan, all I can say is it was good to have him. But given the current weaponry, I can't say he'll be missed.

Posts: 2,226 I think if the Lakers get Artest, then losing Ariza really isn't going to matter. The Lakers have an excellent chance to repeat.

Posts: 8,163 Yeah, looks like I posted this before the Lakers real plans were revealed. Seeing the result, I honestly don't believe they ever intended to re-sign Ariza.

Artest is a beast. The best defender in the league just joined the best team. While this shortens the window a little for a dynasty run, it definitely makes them a better team.
