What a wonder the internet is!
So many people here to discover and to share with - on every imaginable level.
Instant messaging and now foruming replicate conversation and, now and then, we get a lovely email. That always reminds me of the days when considered thought and expression were treasures and to receive a "hard copy" demonstration of someone's regard was a heart-fluttering moment.
I have to declare that to get a (snail mail) birthday card or, even better, a note or letter that "I was thinking of you" (or more) still does gravity-defying things to the corners of my mouth and, upon occasion, my heart.

Yes! I'd like a break from junk mail and bills . That's why in an MSN group my daughter is a part of members started exchanging home addresses to send each other postcards and even little gifts, I think that was very nice... maybe we could start something like that here...

I hate opening mail. It seems I have more junk mail on my counter than in my Hotmail. I have never been much of a letter writer anyway, and sending out Christmas cards was always a chore. So no....I don't miss getting snail mail. Last letter I recieved was from the jail my ex was in. I can't say THAT thrilled me!

Yes, I do. You can save emails - buts its not the same knowing someone took time to send a card or note. I love saving - and savoring them!

I for one do miss going to my mailbox and actually getting a handwritten letter from someone. I was hospitalized recently and I was so excited to get get well cards in the mail. I really treasured them. I know I can always count on the pile of bills always waiting for me , but what a nice surprise to know you are thought of.

I have every single card and note my children ever gave me.. and now that they are grown, every now and again, I pull them out and read them .. it warms me beyond measure and, yes, I miss letters from others.. they are something that can be re-read every time you miss that one that sent them. Emails are nice, but the written form of their actual hand-written note make it more, for lack of a better word, personal and touching.
