I don't know how women could ever hook up with men
much older then themselves. They're destined for a lonely
old age since he's gonna "Kick the bucket" much, much sooner in life.
Everything's relative...one of my friends is now going thru the painful part of having loved and married a much older man. They're still devoted to each other but his failing health is really tough on both of them...on the other hand, she's had 25 really wonderful years with the one man she's ever loved. There are plenty of tradeoffs in life.

Somehow, whatever the chronological age, there isn't a difference when the minds and mushy true-love stuff happens  -- no "older"/"younger", actually: both feel the same 'age'
(Well, perhaps when they're younger than your kids -- that can feel a bit weird  )

Oh yes just recently a 74 year old did and I am 50. He said he likes younger women, well I do not like men that much older I told him and he took offense. It was not that long ago I buried one man, and I am in no hurry to do so again. The chances of burying a man that much older vs. one closer to my age, is quite high I am sure. 60 to me is pusing it in age. I like to stay between 5-7 years age difference at most older or younger.

 what do you do if you have a 40 year old hitting on you????  and i mean a lot of the time!!!!!!  i have tried to dissuade him in so many ways..... told him i had underwear older than him and that i was wearing them!!!!!  told him he was tooo young for this ride!!!! and he still wont give it up...extremely good looking man(boy) - about 6'2"- probably 205- very large muscular arms  (which turns me on!!)- i have set my limit at 48- not 40!!!! what would any of you gals do???

I found out a long time ago not to bother trying to dissuade someone much younger than me because they just think it's a challenge and think they can change my mind. Now I almost always ignore them completely and usually don't respond in any way whatsoever They quit writing if they never get a response. I won't use the instant messenger on sites like this either because of the young guys and had to quit using my candylily yahoo messenger name for the same reason. I like men closer to my own age. The youngest I've dated was 8 years younger and there were a couple, but actually I was stretching my comfort zone at that, but they were very good-looking and I did have a good time. Some of the guys that I've met though, who were supposedly around my age looked much much older to me. I think lots of older men lie about their ages on dating sites or either they've aged very badly.

hmm maybe i just aged rather badly? but..nuthin like chemo n steroids for no reason for over 6mos to help that along

Hmmmm............Have we met, Ynot? I don't seem to recall that so I couldn't have been talking about you.  Sorry about the steroids and chemo though. I'm sure that was no fun.
I didn't say everyone, but I do believe some of the guys out there lie about their ages Imagine that!!! Maybe I would lie too but since I became a grandma at 39, it would be kind of hard for me to explain a granddaughter who is 12 and looks 16, if I ever actually get serious about anyone..... Also, my son-in-law is in his mid-30's which is another reason I don't particularly want to date anyone much younger than I am. I would rather date someone who could become friends with my brothers and brother-in-laws instead of my kids and my son-in-law.
The last guy I met from here has aged quite nicely, but I'm sure he knows it too.  In fact, most that I've met looked as good or better than their photos, but now and then, I have to wonder if a few of them may be just a teeeeensy bit older than advertised.

All I can feel is that they see older women as easy, desperate, lonely, or a combination thereof. Considering that I don't want to be considered any of those, no matter what the truth might actually be, I never answer them or communicate in any significant way with them. Like them....sure....think they're cute....sure. Believe it's possible for me? No way.

~grin~ There's a point, Adrian, where there's a big difference between "older women" and "OLD women"...at 24, most of us here in the Over 50 forum would fall into the just plain "old" catagory, methinks

i like the younger bad/boy types, the older men my age are not open and too set in their ways, they think women our age just want a quick roll in the hay, i have had men say to me as old as you are you should be glad anyone wants you.

Good point but like i never seen any older lady as old just someone i get along with. You only see people as old if you dont know someone or there age group. I would date one because i got along with her and by the time your that age you are fed up with messing around and playing games you know what you want.

wicked you are 60????? I dont beleive it.. but IF you like the guy go for it.....  Im 51 but i would.. My age limit is 35 to 65.. depends on the person... Sweet N Louisiana
