I love the sad love songs of the past. Songs like "Only The Lonely" and "Lonesome Street" give me shivers of sadness listening to them.

Hi Hopeful,
Gosh. That's a toughie.
How about, "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore"
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin"
Oh--Elton John's, "Come Down in Time". I always picture some poor guy, waiting for his love to show, and it never happens.

Mine's MacArthur Park....saw the Four Tops in Vegas, and started tearing up when they sang it. Ronnie McNeir (Levi Stubb's replacement) saw the tear and pointed to his eye- I smiled and wiped away the tear...he came over and took my hand and sang the rest of the song to me....talk about absolute meltdown!

Oh, Heaven.
I'm jealous. I'm going to try that crying thing next time, and see if it works for me.

Didn't know who wrote or sang it, but I know which one you mean.
Now I'm going to have that song in my head.

Saunders Ferry Lane was on the album from '71 which had Help Me Make it Through the Night as the lead song.
I could sing it....at least a few lines of it, but not as sadly as Sammi sang her songs.

I'm gonna go back a ways on this one but remember "Oh Where Oh Where Can My Baby Be?" I think that's the name of it. This was from the era of all the train-wreck and car crash songs.

In the Ghetto by Elvis... first time I heard it I was in a fast food restaurant, and started crying. I was 14, and BOY was that embarrasing!
