I remember "Help me make it throught the night" but I heard it by Lynn Anderson. I loved the way she sang it.
Gosh there are so many sad songs, how about "Years" by Barbara Mandrell, again a country singer but what a sad song.
Here's an oldie that I like when I'm sad...lol
The End Of the World By Skeeter Davis
Funny how sad songs are the ones we like when we're sad and they only made us sadder. The last thing I wan't to hear when I'm sad is some upbeat song like "Oh, How Happy You Have Made Me"

I loved the Oldies of the 1950s and some of those Love Songs were terrific. Skeeter Davis had a really sad song but I can't recall the name. I was just entering my teen years in the late 1950s and oh I still can recall some of those sad love songs. They had the way with singing then that could give you tears almost. Roy Orberson's song "Only The Lonely" I still love to hear over and over. Many of those singers are dead now but their music is a lengend.

You're wellcome, Hopeful_Lady, I'm glad I could help
I have that song on CD but I'm afraid if I listen to it, I'd cry and I don't want to do that just now. I wish that all the oldies were available on CD, there's so many albums that I had that I don't have anymore and I would love to replace them but, the artists aren't making them available for CD's
I think sometimes those sad ones help us when we are down, sort of cathartic, which is better than keeping feelings bottled up inside.

Lots of favorites here and many memories. But my fav is sort of new, it's from the 60's and it was used in the soundtrack for "Wonderboys" Since my divorce it's been on the jukebox nonstop...."No Regrets" by Tom Rush

Chris Issak has a nice voice its just his band play so darn wild and loud. I like it when a good singer sings slow and the band tones it way down for us to hear the sound of the singers voice. Both he and Emmylou Harris know how to make their voice give that sorrowful sound, I love it when they do that. Emmylou Harris songs are fantastic, especially her Lonesome Street and If You Needed Me. Chris Issak in the past made better music, less of the loud band background washing out his voice. I like his voice but that wild band makes it blow away.

TRAVIS TRITT
More Than You'll Ever Know
(Travis Tritt)
I know living with me ain't always easy
I dam up emotions some men just let flow
But girl when you're not by my side I feel a part of me has died
'Cause I love you more than you'll ever know
More than life more than I've ever loved before
It's absurd and beyond words
I couldn't want you more
And when I try to pour my hear out to you
I'm not sure it shows
That I love you more than you'll ever know
I'm sure you've heard it said hearts have windows
But mine has doors a painful past has closed
Unless someday they open wide revealing feelings locked inside
I'll love you more than you'll ever know
More than life more than I've ever loved before
It's absurd and beyond words
I couldn't want you more
And when I try to pour my hear out to you
I'm not sure it shows
That I love you more than you'll ever know
Even when I pour my heart out to you
I'm not sure it shows
That I love you more than you'll ever know
Yes I love you more than you'll ever know

I agree, The Last Kiss, but Wildfire and Honey rank right up there.
