For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 50 , there Is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some
22-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the Cow when you can get the milk for free", here's an update for you. Now 80% of
women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying An entire pig, just to get a little sausage

= feminist/sexist drivel = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz = try HRT.......

Heck, after 50, marriage is even less appealing for women like me...I've got too many assets to protect and it would be a huge headache working out a decent pre-nup...a nice exclusive relationship works out just fine for me, living 5 or 6 miles apart...no worries about milk OR sausage for either of us!

As for marriage, the old saying goes ( why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free )

This old cow, is not for sale and milk is all dried up!!!

as to the O P, i recall that is is referred to as "the empty nest syndrome". when you figure out why its empty, it probably won't be empty, except by choice. selah

or being older and hopefully wiser, you wait for the one who brings more to your life, not worrying about money or "things" but just themselves.

i pick up the gauntlet and smile. for an equal has tossed it at my feet. you are a million miles away. and that is my blessing. for if i should be laboring behind a lawnmower even across the street, would not my labors be a blessing to me?

Yes, we praise women over 50 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal.

The reciprocal? As the reciprocal would be something that is mutual or done in return, then the above statement would imply that it is unfortunate that women who are over 50 do not praise others who praise them. Oddly enough, I don't find that to be true.

For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 50 , there Is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

And the bitterness shown in the above statement says it all. Men are referred to as pigs & paunchy relics. If you don't like us, then try dating a woman of your age. You will soon find why so many men over the age of 50, prefer the company of a younger woman. Contrary to what you may believe, it is not about the physical, but rather the attitude & baggage.

Then again, Andy Rooney is an idiot.

True about attitude and baggage, regardless of age. I think my attitude's improved and my baggage decreased with time, but of course that's my opinion. Both the men and the women who tend to generalize, usually based on old prejudices that they cling to, rather than reconsidering them in light of new facts, are going to retain their baggage and negative attitudes.

I'm definitely an older 'chick' (okay, stewing hen would be more accurate), and I have to admit that the last couple of men that I dated who were about my age left me feeling very determined to keep using my mind and body - if you don't use it, you lose it. They have my sympathy though, not my censure, and certainly not my amusement - it's sad to lose the ability to even keep track of who you're cheating on.

My SO is in his early 50's, definitely has all his faculties, including a razor wit, and is unashamedly monogamous, but I think he kind of likes my attitude, and we can both deal with each others' baggage.

But then again, it's not about men and women anyway, only about one man and one woman for each of us.
