You're never too old
John Wilson, 53, is playing college baseball at Penn State. I'm not sure how long the link will be good, it's a Yahoo news clip, but he's certainly an inspiration - he started turning his life around about 20 years ago by going into rehab for alcohol and drug abuse. He's made it through college, he's a senior now, and the school is hoping to hire him there as an assistant coach after graduation...
Better late than never, and this guy out-Hobbses Roy Hobbs...

Heaven you're so right! I've accomplished so much since my 50th birthday Have changed my specialty in nursing from OR to Infection contol/Occupational Health and a 0.4 fte in the ER. Have taken several courses and plan to go to school in Toronto for two weeks so I can become certified in Infection Control( same credentials as the USA nurses) I've moved , bought myself a new home,,and am still very close and in touch with my son......I still have to learn to appreciate myself

I wish I was smart enough and brave enough to start up my own business but I sort of like the steady paycheck I get from teaching. My dr. thinks I ought to retire on disablility since it's hard for me to get around some days. But if I do that, I won't get my regular retirement. I guess I need to check and see which would be more. If I keep teaching another 5 years or so I'll get 100% of my retirement which would come to close to $3,000 a month. And that would be a good deal I think. I also will try to get a part time job somewhere doing something I'd like, like work at a vet's office or at the zoo in some capacity.

SIGN.........how about a ZOO guide......now that would be interesting...you could learn and teach people all about the animals. One of my *in laws* did that......she was 75......and as fit as a mallee bull.....she was more sprightlier than any young person.....and learnt all the inns and outs of animals.....when the job position was offered her.....she didnt think she could do that in a million years........but when she started it she absolutely loved it......and did it right up until she died in her 80's.....so you just never know what is around the place that is different. There are a million and one choices......at any age level.

I received my 30 year pin today from school. I told my principal, barring health problems, a few more years and that's it. But I do want to find something part time after that, otherwise I'll stay home in my jammies all the time and only get dressed to take out trash or get groceries! I know myself so well!

Find some network marketing item that does wonders for your knees and sell it to other people with knee problems.

I'd rather find somethng that helps the arthritis in the little bones on the top of your feet. That's what kills me by the end of the day. There's plenty of products for your soles, toes, ankles, knees, etc. Nothing for the top of your foot. I've looked and looked.
