I guess we've been cuttin' up in the other forums with the kids. I would like to see more activity over here. I did join to have fun with new friends in my age group give or take.

He** yes.....50 and on is the best years in my opinion...
I stay out of the life after 50 mainly because I dont care to read about hemroids...loose bladders...aches and pains etc.......
It would scare the heck outa most if they thought that ailments were the only thing to look forward to. jmo

It is hereby commanded that this thread be kept free of hemroids, aches, pains, etc... so that we may all receive the biting wit of Ms. Painter.

"...in the other forums with the kids"
yeah
Oh, by golly yes there IS life after 50 ... But as MUDSHARK & the currently absent Ms Painter so eloquently implied, we don't frequent this forum dedicated to those of this certain age... 'cause .... hmmmm ... Most of us living this *Life After 50* don't feel any different than those *kids* in all the other forums ...

Hell yes, there's life after 50. I just turned 65 and it's only getting better. All I need is someone to enjoy this life with and things would be complete. Did a little planning, saved a few bucks, have Medicare. What more could someone want. Did I mention that I also have a place in Yuma to keep warm during the winter?
For those who don't have good health or that planned on getting old, I feel sorry for. Some times luck plays a hand, but planning was the most important. I guess your never too young, and your never too old.

<------- old enough to know better, young enough to say the hell with it, this looks like fun!
I've been lucky enough to find someone who's a great match for me and I'm happier now than I've been in decades...I'm just about two months short of 65, and having a ball. My job's being offshored, but if all goes well, that means I'll be retiring with a very generous severance package. If not, I'll still be happy, just a lot more frugal.

In December it will be 15 years since I turned 50. The whole honest truth is that I've been happier in those years than I have been in several decades before. Part of it's dumb luck, part of it's attitude, but I think the attitude is what makes you available for the dumb luck.
If you expect days of dark, doom and despair, you'll find them. If you look forward to new and different challenges, you'll find them - and if you're willing to take some chances along the way, you may find some wonderful days ahead.
BTW, firsts since I turned 60: flew Top Gun (aerobatics and dog fight), went ballooning, horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, saw my lifelong back problems pretty much disappear since I started working out, and I've even gone from being a closet cook (afraid to show off my ineptness) to having people asking for recipes, and a relationship that's probably the easiest and most satisfying of any I've had in my life. I'm planning on building my first electric car sometime next year if all goes as expected.
Yeah, I'd say there's plenty of life after 50!

PS Congrats on your wonderful life after 50!!
