What always worked for me was Home Depot on Saturday morning. Go directly to the tool section- scout it out, make sure there's somebody there you want- then go pick up a cordless drill- fumble with it awhile. Ask the guy how you get the drills into it (say drills- not bits). He will be happy to help and you can mention you have to replace all the hinges on your kitchen cabinets (any project will do- just don't make it long and challenging). With luck- he will discuss the whole project and the rest is up to you. Further instructions available,

It might also explain why I met with little success trolling around in the supermarket produce section on Saturday mornings pretending I didn't know how to cook broccoli.

I understand where you are coming from on that. It seems as we grow older we just get set in our ways. Women are without spontaniety that they once had. More interested in talking you to death. But then that is just my opinion.

I just recently started going to the POF get-togethers. People actually show up for them on that site. I'm going to one tonight. I've only dated people I've met online since I started dating several years ago.
From my experience of taking a few dance classes, that should be a great way for a man to meet single women because there are many more women in the classes which means most of the women taking classes alone probably don't have a partner to take them with. The men there are usually with their girlfriends and wives. So it's not a good place for women to meet single men but if any single men signed up, it would definitelty be a good place for them and it's fun either way.
The hiking club might have been a good place but the men my age who were regulars were married. Most of their wives didn't hike. The single guys were much younger than I was so that was out. although it was still fun to hike with the group.
The number one place that men approach me is in the gas stations when I'm getting a fountain coke. No one has actually asked me out. They just start talking about how they like my hair. Maybe it's because I'm standing in one spot and can't leave until my cup is full.  Maybe I should start carrying cards to give out to the cute ones?
