Posts: 19 Nah...I know women like to make a big deal over that day but I see it as a man-made "holiday" to increase the profits of jewelry stores and florists. If a couple truly cared for one another they wouldn't need a special day set aside to show it. It would happen every day.

And if you mean that people get the blues because they are alone on V-Day, why would that be any different than being alone on any other day? You can look at it 3 ways: you could either be alone, be in a bad relationship, or in a good relationship. Since the 3rd option seems rare (people tend to settle for less than they should), I think being alone beats being in a bad relationship any day of the week!!

Just my opinion.

Posts: 6 being alone is better then being in a bad relationship, but being alone is also worse then being in a good one. Being alone just sucks anyway in the end. So...it is easy to get depressed from not having someone...i think that its both men and women that do this also though. I for one havn't ever really had a date or a relationship around the time of valentines day so i feel every year i am missing someone. Yes i know i should show the one i am dating how much i care every day of the year but there is that extra you feel on that one day of the year.

Honestly the reason that people get depressed more so on valentines day then when they could be alone on every other day of the year...but on valentines you see a lot more PDA then you do on any other day so it just makes you realise how much more you are alone then before. I hope this comment makes sense...i am half asleep writing it.
