I dont' find this to be an annoyance. I enjoy trying to decipher codes. I would like to know what our capabilities are though. Is there more we can do that I haven't found out about yet? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earl, BB codes are basicly a simplified version of html -- and far less dangerous to the integity of a website where people can post...

{B} = bold

{i} = italics

{u} = underline

{quote} =
quote

{quote=name} = name said:
attribute the quote to a name

{font=georgia} = georgia font

{size=5} = size 5

{color=#CC0000} or {color=red} = red color

{url} = clickable url http://dictionary.reference.com

{url=http://etc etc}fill in a link title{/url} = clickable link title Dictionary.com

{img} = a graphic or photo hot-linked offsite

and of course all bracketed codes need [ and ] instead of { and } plus a bracketed "/" and the code to 'turn them off' at the end.

...and that's all the toys we're allowed to use here, which should be enough to make everyones posts more 'expressive' (we're not creating webpages, but we can post links to them if we want)

Good post, Sun.

Here is the web addy for the font colors:

http://htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/colors/article.php/3478961

And for the link, I used:

{url}http://htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/colors/article.php/3478961{/url}

I didn't really use these though { }. I used the brackets. [ ]

I'm having trouble with it too. Still trying.

Okay. Try it now. I didn't include the http:// info, and I needed it.

...and I got rid of the extra 'o'.

I went to a smiley site and put these in my photobucket and now they don't move or have animation.
Any clues why?

Refresh the photobucket page, Katt...sometimes that's all it needs.
Did they move when you downloaded them to your computer? Did you save them via individual "properties" or just copy/paste? (that freezes them sometimes...only captures one frame of the animation)

And CONGRATULATIONS, Earl..!!! Beautiful!

SOME sites still use HTML and others us the BB format (usually for ease) -- if html is allowed on a message board, there's more of a chance that the whole site could be corrupted...and this site is too valuable to get busted open.

I moved them from my documents to photobucket.
Save picture as, then put them in my documents.

Not a big deal, it has happened before.

Oh and yes, congratulations Earl.

Hi katt,

Not certain what you are using them for, in your documents. Do you add them to documents you type? If you save to documents, you will lose the animation capabilities.

I just save picture as...whatever name I want, and hit SAVE. If I want to use that image in a document, I insert a pic from the saved pictures.

If that isn't what you are talking about, I do apologize. You've been doing this a lot longer than I have, and I dont use the photobucket for that purpose.

NOW you're cookin', baby!

HERE COMES THE SUN....

I can fully appreciate your frustration, Earl ~grin~ I think a couple of us would have found it easier to start a page from scratch in html ...but once you use the BB codes, you'll see how easy it is. (just takes getting used to)

Yep...we old dogs CAN learn new tricks afterall ~wink~

There goes the Sun...
Later~ Gotta do some other stuff for awile.

Hm...I'll let SunBabe handle that one.

I think you said you are using photobucket, Earl. I don't know what you can do with your pics there, but at image-shack you have the ability to make that pic smaller. Instead of using the 'forum' link, you copy/paste the 'direct link', change these < > to brackets [ ], and it will work.

Hi Classy, photobucket is beautiful!!! It has it's on active ftp, to load pics from your PC, and not only that, it even labeles them underneath as a href or img and even has the /img on the end, to make pics smaller that's reall easy Classy, open up your photoshoshop 2.0. and it has arrows to make pics smaller or bigger!! And phobucket i loaded 15 photos in 3 minutes and i don't know how they can do this for free, but they even offer 5 GIGS, wow!! That's your best bet,,,Earl

Great pics, Earl! Those were the days, my friend

This is what Classy meant about "instant resizing"...I took the properties from your 8th grade photobucket picture, jumped over to www.image-shack.com, clicked on the second option (url), pasted the url, clicked resize to thumbnail, clicked remove bar from thumbnail, clicked "host it", copied "direct link to image" and posted it here (with the img tags)

All that took less time than it took to type this and less time than it takes to open photoshop

Cool, huh?

(the smaller sizes keep postings reasonable )
