Matchdoctor is proud to present Virtual Gifts!
Sending a virtual gift is a great way to get noticed by that special someone! When you send a virtual gift, the gift will appear at the top receiver's home page with your screen name. The gift will stay in their "gift basket" for two weeks.
Virtual Gifts however are not free to send. They will cost you virtual credits, which you can purchase in bulk amounts. The more you buy, the cheaper each credit costs.
Virtual Gifts are pay to make them more valuable to both the sender and receiver. Sending a Virtual Gift really says "Hey, I think you're special", since they aren't free to send. The sender also knows that they are not competing against many others, such as with winks.
We will also be adding many different types of gifts on an ongoing basis.

I am a lot more impressed by a really well-written email than i would be by any of these "virtual gifts". Sorry MD but I am going to give you a on this one. I just noticed all the new emoticons though and hey here's a for them.

I like the idea of virtual gifts but the fact that you have to pay for it sucks. I think the roses and the box of candy would be fun to send to my md friends for Valentines day if they were free...

I totally understand your need to make money to keep the site running... ....but this is a bad idea...plus they are to expensive....plus she/he can only keep them for two weeks?
How about a small charge to send a voice message to someone that they can keep forever? A personal voice message.....something they can record via your site?
Or how about being able to give someone the gift of "gold" ? Have someone be able to upgrade you to gold as a gift?
I think you could come up with something a lot more interesting.....

Julia, I think both of those are great ideas.
I also think they should consider three levels of membership - add maybe a bronze or silver that adds a few features and toss in something more for the gold.
They are obviously experiencing growth problems....and the rapid rate of the spammers & scammers joining (thus increasing the spam/scam abuse reports) has to be straining their resources.
That said, I have come to really enjoy MD and the community found here. Now hope we don't lose it...they can't run it for free....

If I'm going to spend money on a gift, it's going to be a REAL gift, not a virtual one. Take this lucious babe above me, do you think she'd rather get a pound of candy, or a picture of a pound of candy?

Sorry MD, I am with the consensus on this - spending money to give someone a picture of a gift . It is like getting wrapped pictures of gifts under the tree at Christmas - doesn't work.

Matchdoctor is proud to present Virtual Gifts! Why are you so proud? I'm a little surprised that POF offers a freebie of sending roses(you know how most of us ladies love that) to that special someone and you guys, as great as you are, feel this is a plus.
