What exactly is a BLOG?
I've been around here for a while, and I've been visiting several other community-type web-sites on a fairly regular basis for some time now.
But I really am just a casual "user".
What I'm trying to point-out is that I've been exposed to most internet-terminology on a regular basis for a while.
But I will confess to not being 100% sure of what "a BLOG" is.
I thought that it was biographical in-nature.
But after then looking at your BLOG, I now have a completely different idea.
Is it "Up-coming events a person is planning"?
My life is not terribly exciting.
Should I write down stuff like "THURSDAY DECEMBER 15, 2005--7 a.m. WESTON PARK BAPTIST CHURCH, BIBLE STUDY + TIME OF PRAYER."

This should help explain what a blog is and was posted in the Help section here:..

lol I think the blogs are a great idea. It helps give more insight to someone than just fill in the blank answers on a profile.
Does anyone else see matchdoctor becoming a myspace-esque site now?

"A blog is a website for which an individual or a group frequently generates text, photographs, video or audio files, and/or links, typically (but not always) on a daily basis. The term is a shortened form of weblog. "
for all of you non-techies out there...what a blog is, but use it carefully as you just never know who are reading them.!!!

Be sure you do not blog more than once every 24 hours or it will not show up in the listings.

Be sure you do not blog more than once every 24 hours or it will not show up in the listings.
This is only for showing up on the "home page". You will still show up on the new blogs page each time you blog now matter how often you blog.
You can also blog more than once every 24hrs and still show up on the home page (you just show up once every 24hrs). For example:
If the first time you blog is today at 1pm you will show up on the home page. You can blog again every hour if you wanted, but you just won't show up again until 1pm tomorrow. Hope that makes sense. You're not penalized for blogging more, it's just you're only displayed once per 24 hour period on the home page. Hope this helps clear up the confusion. So blog away!
We are working on a blog section where you can subscribe to user's blog and their new blogs will show up on your page as soon as they blog! And rather then having the typical search result view for blogs, it will be more like forums w/ the title of the blog and the first 100-200 character preview of their blog. You will also be able to see everyone that is subscribed to your blog.

What happens to the blog when you press "post" and then your sent to the "sign in" page. Very frusterating when you spent time on writting a blog and then it disappears and you can't press the "back" button to retrieve it.
Can it be retrieved??

Hi Scarlet
I agree with you... I had to start writing everything, including emails, in word- or some other text editor, and then pasting them in on MD. I got tired of stuff evaporating. Good post.

I didn't even think of that - great idea!! Thanks so much!! Still wondering where the blog goes though - into the Blog Blackhole????
Even though there have been great improvements here - this issue really needs to be addressed and corrected!!
Thanks again!!

If I've taken a long time to write something, I'll do a "copy" first, before hitting "post". Also, if the sign-in page comes up, I THINK you can hit the back button and retrieve the text -- then sign in and it'll take you to where you were and you can paste it in...Not sure if that always works, though.

Thanks SunBabe - I'll try to copy as you suggested. I've tried the other way and sometimes it works and other times I guess it just doesn't feel like it. Either way I got really aggrevated when I spent some time on a blog this morning and I lost it. It was way too long for me to try to redo.

Scarlett, if there is no activity in your account for awhile, you are signed out actomatically, hence then sign-in page, when you posted your blog. I agree with DistressedJester's recommendation to compose any blogs you write within a text editor first (such as notepad or wordpad), and then copy and paste them into the "Post-to-Blog" window.

Fuchia ~
So, am I to understand that if I take some time in writing a blog that it would be considered as "no activity" in my account? If my mind remembers correctly, and I've been on here for 2 years, there used to be a 45 minute time limit to write an email before you were automatically logged out. (This was before the "blog" days) I'm wondering if the same holds true for blogging.
Thanks for the recommendation - much appreciated!

I'm obviously not Fuchia, but...
Recently, MD made some changes. Before, when the system would time out, is all I had to do was hit the "back" arrow, and I could retrieve my lost information, and just resend it..no big deal.
Now...if I have taken too long to write my blog/posts and the system times out, if I hit "post", I've lost everything. Even if I try to go "back", the "Subject" box is blank. The information cannot be retrieved...at all. It's gone with the wind.
I wish MD could set it up to where we don't lose the text. It also seems like the system times out sooner now. It could be after about 20, maybe 30, minutes.
