It's fraud, and these are not poor, starving people doing this, They're middle classish...student types.

every website on the internet, epecially dating sites, are constantly being inundated by 'fakes'. it's their profession and some make a lot of money off the innocent or naive. please make yourself aware of their tactics and techniques in order to protect yourself (especially financially).
we post a safety warning on every page on this site, but with the newer technologies these people and 'rings' have become more sophisticated in their approaches.
your best defense is to be informed and to never send money or credit card numbers or even phone numbers or IM IDs until you feel complete trust. your best bet is to communicate through a safe site like this one via our free and secure email. if you feel a 'red flag' or something fishy, don't hesitate to report the person to us.
we work very hard to eliminate these types, but we also need your assistance in identifying them. some are obvious, but others can 'work' people. we don't like our members to have to go through that disappointment or stress.

Yes, please just don't delete without reporting and don't "play" with them. IM can be a great way for someone to gain entrance to your computer.
And for Pete's sake, quit posting blogs on how to recognize them. Some of them read and learn.

 thank you..........I am glad mod put this up and I agree 100% with mom
I see an hear about alot of people playing with the scammers  it only makes it worse for others.................pls help the site an report them so the site gets cleared immediately.
