You now have the ability to mark a read/viewed message as unread.
You will not be able to mark a message you have already replied to as unread.

Just stating an opinion here, but it seems to me we are gathering more and more options to help us become deceptive, even if if is just in minor ways. I often don't reply automatically to an e-mail, but don't think I need to hide the fact that I've viewed it. I tend to reply when I'm in the right mood to respond and assume that many others do the same. I must admit I don't answer my phone either just because it rings.... I 'm curious to see why anyone would see this as a needed or wanted option....

^^^I agree! I dont see a reason to not let someone know you received their mail.If you mark it as unread, wouldnt a person have to send it again to get your attention to the first one sent?

I can see some value - if I open an email and it's quite lengthy (you know how some women can talk and talk and talk) I could skip it but mark it as unread so I can go back to it later. Just a thought...

sometimes i have to do a quick scan and can't respond to each email in my mailbox. the seder can look into their outbox and see that it is read. they could think that i won't respond, am ignoring them, are mad at them, or just playing a game when that is not the case. this new addition could be beneficial to those of us that can't dedicate alot of time to a full mailbox.

What if a person sees you have read their email, you mark it as unread, and they look and see it shows unread again? I should think that would make them wonder why you had done that. It could cause them to think you didn't want to deal with them. Whats worse--that could be the truth. Yikes!!!

I'm with Pete and Exiled.....a great way to mark it for ourselves to make sure we get back to it when we have the time.
Being able to see if someone has opened our e-mail must be something for paying members?!?!?!?! Seems to me that is just a way for people to get all worked up about whether they are being ignored/rejected. Geez, if somebody can't handle not being responded to within ____ seconds, I know that would be a red flag for me!!!!
Thanks, MD.....I think it is a positive addition!!!!!

Nah Eyes, I believe everyone has this option, you just go to your outbox and you can see if your mail has been viewed by the eye beside it.

I tend to agree with this and is why I can't see bothering to use the option "mark as unread" but can see perhaps the reasoning of using it as a reminder to self to respond later. I correspond with very few people myself and don't have a problem keeping track of who I'm talking to so never thought of using it this way.
Morning all!

I do believe the DELETED status of sent email no longer is displayed. That was a useful one if you got an email from someone who obviously didn't read your profile. Just delete it and if they checked, they got the message. It also told you how long someone hangs on to your emails. A bit of a breach of privacy, but, still cool.

Once you have read the email, put a check mark in the box, and click on the 'mark unread' option. Done deal. It will return to the yellow 'new' status.

I like this feature. I'm often too busy to reply and then I forget that I read a message without responding. Thanks MD!

Pete,

How about KINDLY RE-phrasing this comment to be Politically Correct??
Just MY thought...

I think it is a great idea. Sometimes the phone rings and I can't read my emails and respond so yes, I like the idea. I have forgotten to respond for that very reason.

This is an old one, but, since I did not know it was there, I thought maybe some others would like to be able to read this and use the info in it also.
I never thought about marking an email unread to fool the sender. However, I can certainly mark it unread so that I am reminded to go back and read it at a time when I can respond to it. If it's something to delete, I try to do it ASAP, so that I do not accumulate too much in my past mail.
