I spent two hours at a local Firestone waiting for Automotive repairs. I shared the waiting area with three other people. The Television was set on MTV there were a pile of magazines to read and I there was a fresh brewed pot of coffee. I settled into my seat and grabbed a magazine and then it all began. All three people one by one received calls on their cell phones. The gentleman on my left had a very loud conversation in chinese. The girl sitting on my right discussed the history of all of friends relationships including her own for nearly two hours. The woman sitting across from me had an argument with someone who may or may not have been her husband. Thankfully her call was brief, and it must have worn her out because she fell asleep.I think I deserve the option of not listening to your call. We might just need the following ten commandments of Cellular phone ettiquette
1. Thou shalt not subject defenseless others to your cell phone conversations.
2.Thou shalt not set thy ringer to play La Cucaracha every time thy phone rings.Or any other annoying song.
3.Thou shalt turn thy cell phone off during public performances.
4. Thou shalt not wear more than two wireless devices on thy belt
5. Thou shalt not dial while driving
6.. Thou shalt not wear thy earpiece when thou art not on thy phone
7. Thou shalt not speak louder on thy cell phone than thou would on any other phone.
8.. Thou shalt not grow too attached to thy cell phone.
9. Thou shalt not attempt to impress with thy cell phone.
10. Thou shalt not slam thy cell phone down on a restaurant table just in case it rings.
I confess to violating number five( I know I should not do it)

I hate it when they use those Nextel phones, and they "force" everyone to hear half the conversation blaring through the phones loudspeaker.

When I returned to work yesterday I was given a County Cell Phone. Its a Nextel.... to be used for official business only. I know I am not going to like that walkie talkie {email address removed} going to confuse the heck out of me when I have two phones ringing in my hand bag.

I know I am guilty of 5 & 6....I keep the earpiece in so I don't have to try and put it in while I am driving. I do try just to dial my phone while I'm at a light though. Oh wait and I am sure my ringtone would drive some people nuts...it is "Scars" by Papa Roach

I have a nextel, they way to turn the speaker off for the DC, there is a speaker symbol on the top of the phone, all you have to do is press it and then you can talk as you are talking on the phone... I think at some point I have broken all the rules, but I do try to take my calls outside if it is possible. My ring tone is I Will Follow from U2....

I try not to use my cell phone in front of others, but if I have to, and I am unable to go outside, I try to keep a low profile and I make sure I keep my voice down. For one thing, I'd rather not have others eavesdropping in on my conversations.
On the other hand, I am not usually too bothered by strangers talking on their cellphones. The conversations can sometimes be quite interesting.
As for my ringtone... Well, it actually sounds like a phone ringing! Imagine that - a ringtone that sounds like a ringtone Why don't they make more ringtones like this, instead of just ones that play music? If I really wanted to listen to music, I'd turn on the radio..
- the Fuchian
P.S. I also to confess I've dialed while driving.. Definitely not a good thing to do

Wondering what kinda phone conversations Fuchia has
I find it rather funny when you are walking across a parking lot and someone is talking on their cell with a hands free device. You know they put people away for talking to themselves in public.

I love the looks I get from people when I am talking away while sitting at a light. My hair covers my headset and it is on my right side to begin with....you can't see the mouth piece or the wire from the left side at all.

Cell phones have become such a staple in our lives that seeing someone talking to themselves is pretty normal. So no one will be calling those men in white coats to take you away quite yet.

It is so confusing when you get a new cell phone. I kinda wish they all worked the same. Just when I figure out all the features, its time to get a new one. My personal phone is so simplistic compared to the nextel phone I have for work.

I love my cell phone but hell when I go into a movie or anywhere public I put the ringer on vibrate or silence.. I can't stand hearing everyone elses conversation it just drives me nuts like at the movies or out at dinner.. And these knuckle heads that drive while talking and can't pay attention to whats going on around them I laid my bike down about 6 years ago because of some jack-ass was chatting on her phone and just drove into my lane obvioulsy with-out a clue in the world as to what was going on ( Thankfully I had my cell on me to call for help) LMAO
