I was just watching the inside edition and I saw something very disturbing. There is a documentary that has been released called "Jesus Camp" The images shown were chilling.

Jesus Camp follows three young children as they attend "Kids on fire" summer camp in Devils Lake North Dakota. Kids as young as six are taught to become Christian soldiers in Gods Army. The film follows the children as they hone their phophetic skills and are schooled how to take over America for Christ.

The few minutes I saw made me think the adults in this camp should be arrested for child abuse. These children are being brain washed . They are also being taught that they are superior to others. One of the children they showed kept passing out since she was so overwhelmed with emotion. These children are having the bible forced down their throats. They are isolated from the rest of the world.

At Jesus Camp, the daily activities include include speaking in tongues and smashing coffee mugs emblazoned with the word "government". Children learn that "science doesn't prove anything," and learn to consider themselves part of an Army of God. They are compelled to pledge that they will fight to end abortion. They are even pushed into publicly confessing their impure thoughts, and many of them cry and wail charismatically.

The camp director explains that she admires the way Islamic cultures raise children so devoted they will risk their lives for their faith. When we ultimately see several of the campers being placed by their parents on the steps of the Capitol with tape over their mouths, protesting abortion. The very idea that a camp like this exists simply turns my stomach.

The camps pentacostal ministers and the parents of these children are so contrary to what Jesus is all about . Parents who want their children raised in christian faith may do so in gentler manner. Take them to church , teach them by example, and then when they are older let them chose the path they want to follow. I had no idea camps like this even existed.

That is disturbing.. While you all probably already know I am not very religious, I was raised as a Christian, and we were taught to peacefully spread the gospel, and to love and to respect others, even if they might not share the same beliefs as we did. It is not about starting religious wars with the government and other religions I have mixed sentiments (admiration and contempt) for people who practice any religion, but whether it is contempt or admiration depends on why they are there.

First of all, I admire people of all faiths, who are deeply involved in their faiths, who are there because they have a deep and genuine desire (No! A passion ) to show unconditional love and kindness upon their neighbor. This expression of selflessness is breathtaking to me and I never cease to amazed, moved and touched by it, whenever I witness it. I admire the way religion encourages people to be good to one another - and the way churches offer a welcome mat to all, unconditionally.

Sadly, however, religions have been the root cause of many wars, and millions of deaths can be traced back to some clash between religions. Is this really necessary? I don't think so.

I have a deep disgust and loathing for those who decide to get involved in any faith because they feel that it is their "duty" to forcefeed it upon everyone else. I hold people like this responsible for much of the bloodshed and strife in the world.

Furthermore, I deeply resent how some religious organizations attempt to take away freedoms gauranteed by the Bill of Rights, by lobbying the government to make their own beliefs and doctrines a matter of law that everyone else has to abide by - whether or not they are a believer in that faith. I am personally offended by this; I consider it a slap in my face and an affront upon my freedom to worship (or not worship) as I choose to.

No matter what religion a person belongs to, or what he thinks of others' beliefs, and behaviors, it is important for him to realize that it is these very same liberties that guarantee him the right to worship and believe as he chooses to. It is not a liberty that exists only when it is convenient for him or his particular faith.

^^^^^^^^ What he said!!

The ACLU is more important than ever. Their sole mission is to defend the Bill of Rights. This insures freedom of religion -- to practice or not as you choose provided you're not endangering anyone. I don't believe they will fight for human sacrifice. They're opening a new office in Orlando to serve the Central Florida area. I've just begun going to meetings. The CF ACLU Prez and chapter is very supportive of some events/groups that I'm involved in. I like my rights and would like to keep them

It ought to be against the law for anyone, including parents, to teach children to hate even though it's been going on for ages. This camp is particularly disturbing....

This is SCAREY! This is pure control and indoctrination. While I advocate the rights of parents to raise their children as they see best in a SENSIBLE way, this goes FAR beyond that -- this is organized coercion and intimidation -- in the fragile formative years

They are being taught to take over the country on a political level.
This is why it is wriiten in our constitution"The seperation of church and state"
I never really understood why this was written into the constitution ,but in the last few years it has become very clear to me.

Im surprsed that she leveled with everyone ,this is the kind of thing they think, but usually like to keep under raps and not publicly broadcast .
There are many parallels between the christian right extremist and the Jihad extremist.
They are both taught to hate and believe they are at war with people that think differently, which is contrary of the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus taked about false christianity and the false church ,we are living in a time where this reality has presented itself and has become the most vocal part of evangelico christian right ,of which are now directing policies and are deeply intertwined within our government.

Whether you are Orthodox or Agnostic or even a Atheist I am sure you would have a unsettling feeling watching these very young children crying hysterically in religious ectasy and in a trance on the chapel floor. These children will be our next generation of suicide bombers.

Heres the trailer for the film.

A fairy tale is a story featuring folkloric characters such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, giants, talking animals and others. The fairy tale is a sub-class of the folktale. These stories often involve royalty, and modern versions usually have a happy ending. The fairy tale was part of an oral tradition; tales were told, rather than written down, and handed down from generation to generation.

There was no mention of religion in the fairy tales I am familiar with.

I will have a look at the book you mentioned Abe , its never a bad idea to read a different point of view.
