I have replies from pretty much every local prospect that I had interest in. It appears that most of them just look at the picture and if it doesn't zing them at first glance that's it. I'm the most intelligent, funny, and well rounded man I know. The replies the ladies sent either just hit me on the head like they were swatting those pop up gophers at the arcade or had such minimal interest that it would take a thousand years to get to know them. I can take rejection, but rejection en masse is a little hard to handle. I was looking for someone a little more intelligent and a little less affected than those people I stumble across every day. I guess it's just a dream.

DoctorBones, it's not you. Don't take it personally. Online dating is hard. For everyone.
The problem with the Internet is that people are led to believe they can just punch in their desires for their mate and then the Internet will just magically spit their date out. Most people are looking the, maybe, five or ten percent of the men or women on here, that just about everyone else also wants to find. This is what comprises most of the challenge. The trick is to find that one person that has woken up to reality, and to not set your expectation too high.
You have to identify what's really the most important thing to you that you are looking for, concentrate on that, and then learn to live with everything else.
Then you have to be just keep trying again, over and over, with the next person. Yes, that can be very boring at times, doing the same thing over and over again with the each new lady you meet, but I'm afraid it's the only way. And besides, I'm sure you - a musician - knows all too well, that no especially good thing ever comes without a lot of hard work. As much as I hate to even think it, the initial stages of courting someone online are a lot like an interview - the same questions need to be asked each "applicant".

The trick is to find that one person that has woken up to reality, and to not set your expectation too high. Thanks, the Fuchian, You are right, online dating may not be for everyone. I think I can relate this situation to selling life insurance. No matter how badly some people think they need life insurance you still have to sit down with them face to face to reassure them that they are making the right decision. How in the world can you decide whether you want to talk to someone based on a small picture and a few words in a profile? My inquiries for the most part simply asked if they wanted to talk. Most of the answers were somewhere between oh gawd no and puleeeeeze you've got to be kidding. There was one where I felt that I matched probably 95% of what the woman was asking for. She replied curtly that I hadn't bothered to read her profile. Well, I had, and I had to wonder if she had read it herself. I can see where those replies from Russia, Africa, China, etc. might start to sound appealing after awhile. Even knowing it's a scam it's nice to read that I am the man of their dreams now and then. Anyway, I think I can meet enough wackos on my own without needing to be bopped on the head here. Don't bother putting in a token because I'm not popping my head up, lol.

OK, I've been thinking about this. The idea is to make the best profile you can. Then you sit back to wait for someone new and not so much of a b------ to show up. Then you get them before someone else does. Basically anyone who's been on here more than a week is not going to be friendly. Or, perhaps if they are here long enough they will get to some reasonable reality about the whole thing. In the meantime we blog here to pass the time and maybe say something funny so we can have a laugh or two.

Dovestreasure, Yeah, I'll say you've been around longer than a week. With 2335 posts you might fall into the awakened to reality category. Come on, tell me that you didn't whack some gophers on the head after your first week here.

Come on, tell me that you didn't whack some gophers on the head after your first week here Ah searching the memory banks to late May of 2006... All I can recall from back then was meeting a creature that crawled out of a sewer and in time started spreading disease to all I associated with.. those were some odd times. However out of bad sometimes comes good.

Now back to being on topic....yes I have to admit in the beginning, I just wanted to beat men...but honestly...the longer I have been on here I was able to weed out most of the jerks and met some really nice people, male and female.
