Hurricane season is suppose to start June 1st....but it looks like the storm season doesn't care about dates. I take this as not being a good sign for this years season!! Is everyone ready for what I feel is going to be another bumpy year?
Season's first storm forms off east Atlantic Wednesday, May 9, 2007 Post a comment | E-mail this story | Print The low pressure area in the W. Atlantic Ocean about 180 miles east of Jacksonville is acquiring tropical characteristics.
So despite hurricane season not officially beginning until June 1, the season's first sub tropical storm, named Andrea, has formed.
According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker, the storm's impact on the Bay area will be limited to the continuation of the recent breezes, along with a chance for rainfall this week.
Higher wind and coastal erosion will occur on the east coast.

Well I figure we might as well use this thread as our storm one for now...lol Here is an update........
ANDREA: Still northeast of Daytona Beach
MIAMI (AP) — The first named storm of the year continues to be centered southeast of Savannah, Georgia, and northeast of Daytona Beach, Florida.
The National Hurricane Center says Subtropical Storm Andrea has top sustained winds around 45 miles-per-hour and continues to move west at about three miles-per-hour.
At 11 p.m. Eastern time, Andrea was centered about 135 miles southeast of Savannah and about 115 miles northeast of Daytona Beach. The storm is nearly stationary. The storm's winds have been blowing the smoke from wildfires across Georgia and Florida.
Forecasters say no significant downpours are expected over land through at least tomorrow morning.
A tropical storm watch has been issued for parts of the two states, meaning tropical storm conditions are possible within 36 hours.

Witchie you are my favorite Weather forecaster now... of course I am not at all looking foward to the doom and gloom of hurricane season... how ever this sub tropical storm may bring some very much needed relief for all the wild fires. It was so smokey here this morning.. you could hardly see Down Town Orlando as I headed toward work. So Bring on the rain.. just may no harm come to anyone.

Jack YOU ARE AMAZING.. I hope you inspire others to do the same.
Well it looks like Andrea has fizzled down to a subtropical depression now.. and all the weather casters are saying she will just blow smoke from GA our way to add to all the smokey skies we have already.. we just got a itty bitty bit of rain today.. I saw an awesome Rainbow when i got home today
It will most likely Rain just when I am going to start my shift at Universal Studios Tomorrow.. cause I just have that kinda luck!

Yesterday, when I was walking home, the sky was all hazy and there was even the smell of smoke in the air. I thought that maybe when I got home, I'd hear about some huge brush fire in the area - I didn't know all this smoke was from fires all the way up in Georgia!

Andrea was a wipe out and she did cause beach erosion .. which is a darn shame. I had heard on the news that they were no going to allow any cars on the beach for awhile. Nature is beautiful but not when it destroys.

Nature is beautiful but not when it destroys. But Dove that is all a part of nature, yes it does destroy, but it also renews itself too. Take normal wildfires, they are good for the forests. The ash is strong in nutrients and it culls out the diseased and dead trees to allow for new stronger growth.

This is true Witchie.. and part of the cycle of life. Still makes my heart sad to see a burnt out forest or a beautiful beach reduced to its former self. Quite often those forest fires are caused by a thoughtless motorist tossing a lit cigarette out the car window.
