So what is everyone doing this weekend? Me I am stuck home with the mega wench, but was hoping to go to a muscle car show. Only thing is I don't see that they are going to have it this year I have looked to see if maybe I was wrong, but it doesn't even show it on the website for the park...I am soooo bummed. Need my muscle car fix!! Of course I couldn't enjoy all the wonderful food and stuff as I still can't really eat and still on meds so maybe it is a good thing...lol

Anyway, it is normally held at Coachmen Park in Clearwater. I have see lots of free concerts there on Memorial Day Weekend and Forth of July. Of course seeing they are classic cars the bands are classics too. I have seen Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Rascals and a great Beatles tribute band to name a few.

More then likely I'll do some work in the yard too...it gets me out of the house, plus I am working on my hummingbird and butterfly patch of the yard. About three weeks ago for the first time ever I saw a hummingbird...I was thrilled!!

Fuchia, just wait till you see the other one...I look so dorky in it...lol

Speaking of pictures, did anyone look at JF's profile and see the pictures of her baby? She added a new one...he is soooo cute

Well, I'm glad that at least I'll be doing something useful on Memorial Day. If I wasn't working that day, I'd probably be inclined to do something silly like decide to make that the day to go run errands at a bank or post office... lol...Usually never fails!

Memorial day weekend us to a really big deal for me once upon a time.. While Growing up it meant a long weekend in the mountains in Upstate NY or a weekend at the beach in Atlantic city.

This year I will be working Friday , and Saturday and will enjoy the fringe festival in Down town Orlando on Sunday. We may go to my time share in Daytona just to enjoy the amenities.I love long weekends.

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary
________________________________________________________________________
For Immediate Release May 2, 2000

Memorandum on the White House Program for the National Moment
of Remembrance

Memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies

Subject: White House Program for the National Moment of Remembrance

As Memorial Day approaches, it is time to pause and consider the
true meaning of this holiday. Memorial Day represents one day of
national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who died
while defending our Nation and its values. While we should honor these
heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to
securing our Nation's freedom, we should honor them especially on
Memorial Day.

In this time of unprecedented success and prosperity throughout our
land, I ask that all Americans come together to recognize how fortunate
we are to live in freedom and to observe a universal ``National Moment
of Remembrance'' on each Memorial Day. This memorial observance
represents a simple and unifying way to commemorate our history and
honor the struggle to protect our freedoms.

Accordingly, I hereby direct all executive departments and agencies,
in consultation with the White House Program for the National Moment of
Remembrance (Program), to promote a ``National Moment of Remembrance''
to occur at 3 p.m. (local time) on each Memorial Day.

Recognizing that Memorial Day is a Federal holiday, all executive
departments and agencies, in coordination with the Program and to the
extent possible and permitted by law, shall promote and provide
resources to support a National Moment of Remembrance, including:

Encouraging individual department and agency personnel, and
Americans everywhere, to pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m.
(local time) on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on the
sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all.

Recognizing, in conjunction with Memorial Day, department
and agency personnel whose family members have made the
ultimate sacrifice for this Nation.

Providing such information and assistance as may be
necessary for the Program to carry out its functions.

I have asked the Director of the White House Millennium Council to
issue additional guidance, pursuant to this Memorandum, to the heads of
executive departments and agencies regarding specific activities and
events to commemorate the National Moment of Remembrance.

William J. Clinton

Note: This memorandum was released by the Office of the Press
Secretary on May 3. 2000

Trike thanks for posting that.. I was listening to the Phillips Phile a local talk show here in Orlando Yesterday afternoon. After each commericial break he and others on his show were reading excerpts of letters written by soldiers while they were in action. The letters were the last letters the wrote to family shortly before they were killed. The letters were followed by a statement from a loved one who was grieving over the loss of their fallen soldier. You would have had to be as hard as nails to not be deeply moved. It was a humbling reminder as to why we have a day off on Monday. It gave me a reality check. I was griping a bit earlier in the day about having to work part of this weekend. Instead of complaining I should be thankful to be alive and live in a wonderful country with the freedom to make choices. So to all those who have lost somone to the brutality of war in the name of our freedom, you have my heart. I will take a moment on Monday to remember and reflect.

God bless all those who have, who are, and will serve our Country in the future.

Of course, today would have to be the day someone would decide to pay me with a check (trying to trick me into going to the bank tomorrow to go try and deposit it). NOT!

Yep it is most annoying to drive to the bank and find out its a holiday. I would love to see the banks surveillance cameras from a bank holiday. I bet those would be quite funny to watch.

I have been sitting here all day working on a site for work only to find out a few hours ago that I missed a family reunion. Sometimes life is odd, and to think I have been off line all week only to miss it the one day I get back on.

From the looks of it, most of them are going to make it, so I may have extras if anyone is interested just let me know.
