Vote for non lawyers (both Republican and Democract) and help put an end to the U.S. "legal caste" (a government "Of the lawyers, By the lawyers and For the lawyers!).

Picking lawyers to run government is the best example of a conflict of interest I can find.

Fuchia I happen to be a lawyer and a good one at that ... well not really of course.
Lawyers are not all bad.. I had a really good and caring one for my divorce. My bankruptcy Attorney gave me terrible advice .. the man was a moron. My daughter had an entertainment attorney that was a sweetheart, honest and extremely good at what she does,
There are good and bad in every professions.. if they are qualified to run for office and have a good stand on the issues. Why shouldent they run for office. Lets face it getting through law school and passing the bar exam is not a walk in the park.I would rather have someone with knowledge of constitutional law ,and who has true grit and perserverance to get through Law school making educated decisions in this country.

Dove if you were a lawyer, you know I'd still love ya. I have cousin who's a lawyer, so I don't really mean that for all lawyers - just lawyers in general. Of course there are some good ones, but it seems most of them suck. There's a reason they have a bad rep, though. Like car mechanics, many try to take advantage of you, if you don't have a clue whats going on. I guess it just burns me up that a good friend of mine, whose fighting to get her five kids (I refer to her as Jill in my blog) has been burned by at least two incompetent lawyers in the process.

There are no doubt some lawyers who are unscrupulous and do not have the best interest of their clients at all. I got some really poor guidance from the lawyer that handled my bankruptcy. I lost a good amount of savings bonds that were meant for my daughters education, he assured me that they were safe and would not be seized. It broke my heart when they were.. all he could say was.. "Im sorry" and sent me the bill for his services.

Yeah, one thing's for sure, no matter what, they're always happy to send the bill.

Yeah, one thing's for sure, no matter what, they're always happy to send the bill After they pad it to the point of bankruptcy for the client and/or when they cant squeeze the other guy for more money!

all righty...stop the lawyer bashing...btw...a lawyer is not required for any legal actions...and there are plenty of resources for you to learn about a topic in which you feel legal action is needed and can file yourself and represent yourself...
the governor has a plain language initiative for the state of florida and it is very serious...at my job we are re-working all documents that are sent to be more easily understood...as are all state agencies...it's even affecting our training in house, etc...and the ways laws are being written - to be more easily understood by the average citizen
i also know several lawyers who are able to do a LOT of pro bono work for those who can't afford attorneys...and they take a lit of pride in doing the pro bono work...without plastering it all over the paper either...
that was always the thing i wanted to be able to do...become a lawyer and get myself into a position where i could take cases pro bono...or take a case, not for the money, but the principle the possible outcome stood for
