People can be so funny at times. I get questioned all the time about my religion. Some questions are normal just want information types, some are just outright funny and some are scary...lol

Lately there seems to be a rash of questions about spells, so I figured why not just start another thread about it.

I have been asked in the past; can you do a love spell on so and so for me, did you do a spell on me and my all time favorite one, can you do a spell on me so I can win the lottery

For starters, in my mind, a spell is no different then a prayer. I know a long time ago we talked about this, but it is also one of the things that seems to confuse people when they ask me about things.

What is a prayer?

From Wikipedia

A prayer is an action or practice of communicating, commonly with a sequence of words, to a deity or spirit for the purpose of worshiping, requesting guidance, confessing sins, or to express one's thoughts and emotions. The words of the prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person's words.

This is the best I could find to describe what a spell is.

What is a spell?

Generally speaking, a magical spell is a formula that may
involve spoken, written, or chanted words; symbolic
enactments; candle burning; ritual baths; burning of
incense; sprinkling of powders, salts, or dusts; and/or the
manufacture and deployment of charms, amulets, or talismans.

I have always felt working spells were no different then praying. In both you are asking for guidance, help or just pouring out your soul to someone or thing you can not see, touch or hear. As an example with trying to quit smoking, I will admit, I have done a tiny spell for that one. I felt I needed that little extra willpower to stay on track. There have been times also that I have said or asked for help, not a real spell, but yet the way I worded it, it could be taken as a spell. It would fall more into line as a prayer.

Now from my church going days, most services did have some of the above spell type things. Spoken, written, or chanted words, to me that would be hymns and psalms, to name a few. Candle burning and incenses and ever ritual baths (baptisms) are part of most churches. So in my mind there really isn't a big difference in what I do compared to what most people do in church.

I found this in Wikipedia and I thought it was pretty good at explaining a few things.

Viewed from a non-theistic perspective, many religious rituals and beliefs seem similar to, or identical to, magical thinking.

Related to both magic and prayer is religious supplication. This involves a prayer, or even a sacrifice to a supernatural being or god. This god or being is then asked to intervene on behalf of the person offering the prayer.

The difference, in theory, is that prayer requires the assent of a deity with an independent will, who can deny the request. Magic, by contrast is thought to be effective:

* by virtue of the operation itself;
* or by the strength of the magician's will;
* or because the magician believes he can command the spiritual beings addressed by his spells.

In practice, when prayer doesn't work, it means that the god has chosen not to hear nor grant it; when magic fails, it is because of some defect in the casting of the spell itself. It is no wonder that magic tends to be more formulaic and less extempore than prayer. Ritual is the magician's failsafe, the key to any hope for success, and the explanation for failure.

A possible exception is the practice of word of faith, where it is often held that it is the exercise of faith in itself that brings about a desired result.

Now to those of you who ask me to do spells for them, my answer is this....NO

I will never do any spell that will bend someones free will. That totally goes against everything I believe in. I can not and will not try to force a person to fall in love with you. If I don't believe in doing love, money or just about any other spell for my own gain, why would I compromise my beliefs to bend someones will for your own selfish gain? Silly people..that will never happen...lol

Now if it is a healing type spell, I don't have an issue at all with doing them at all. They are my main thing to begin with. Between healing spells and healing bags, I can pour my heart into them as I am normally helping someone I care for and love. Granted I will not do one on someone without their permission as I need them to know I am doing it and to believe in what I am doing.

So the point of all this is:

I will not do a spell for anyone other then healing

I will not put a spell on someone I am interested in, he has to like me for me, not by me bending his free will

Sorry, you'll have to just figure out your own way to win the lottery like the rest of us....lol

Interesting subject
Do you think that will can really be bent by a spell?
I'm not saying it can't be, I'm just not sure.
Can you give any examples where you have seen this work?
Not that I would want to do this to anyone, but if this capabilty really exist it would be interesting to know.

P.S.
Do you remember that email I sent you with that quote from a blogger,I think he was trying to cast a spell with what he wrote.

lol...Well, I'm pretty stubborn anyway, so it'd be pretty tough to try and bend my will..

Can't give any examples as it is not something I would or have even tried, it goes against everything I have been taught. Do I think it could happen, yes if the other person doesn't know and doesn't fight it. If the person knows you are doing a spell on them and they allow it, you are not bending there will. A spell or even a prayer is a force of energy, it can be used in different ways. You are putting a lot of you into it, if the other person is weak or does not know what you are doing your energy can effect them.

Do you remember that email I sent you with that quote from a blogger,I think he was trying to cast a spell with what he wrote.

Nope doesn't work that way. This is going to be harder to explain. If it was a paper letter, yes it could be used as one as you will touch it, but to do that, no one else could have touched the paper as it will mess with the spell. Just reading someones words isn't enough to cast a spell. More so online as there is too much energy going through the internet. Me personally have never heard of anyone being able to cast a spell on someone through an email. I really can't see a way of it being done even if it was negative magic.

If you consider how many books are read containing spells there would be tons of them being cast as people read them. I personally will read a spell over and over making changes until if feels right to me and what I need it to do. With that said, a simple healing spell could be cast 4 or 5 times if I am writing my own and just reading it casts it.
