Real estate slump is dropping prices of desireable properties on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas. I am searching for others in Florida who are fed up with the crime, the high taxes, the high insurance rates due to storms and the threat of lawsuits over the most silly matters, etc. and seeking to form a group of senior citizens or others with secure incomes to look jointly at investment property (motels, small resorts, small hotels or guesthouses, etc.) on the island of Abaco.
If sincerely interested let me hear from you.

Jfreak, the way he worded his post, it sounds like he is looking for investors to buy land in Abaco and fleece them of all their money in the process. BUT I agree with your statement, even thou I still think he is pulling a scam here. BUT I'll let the forum MOD make the final call on him.

he's been a member here for quite awhile, not happy with our site or florida either (see past posts and blog). if this is just a pipe-dream kind of thing and not an organized business venture (as in 'ad'), he can talk about it for now, i suppose. a lot of people have dreams of living or retiring in the bahamas, but it takes a lot of money and the residency restrictions there are unreal.

btw, rkingdoms (re your blog statement) blogs and threads on any subject give others additional views of the type of person they are dealing with. profiles and plain emails can't normally say or show nearly enough about an individual and the entire spectrum of their personality. and this is a 'community for singles and friends', many 'friends' who have hooked up eventually and become couples through threads and blogs, not just emails.

Speaking of scams and your site (this web site) the scams come left and right from NIGERIAN scamers. Scam emails from Nigeria are a national passtime! I have removed my photos from this site and recommend all do the same as the Nigerian scamers (most all who have used computer to contact their Bank, etc. have received these scam emails all across the U.S.) now have the abiliy somehow to lift your photo from your profile and then they file a phony profile using your photo and having you living in a different location in the U.S. (New Jersy, etc.) and when men respond to the phony profile using your photo they are shocked to learn that you are somehow stranded in NIGERIA and, of course, need money to come home! Really now. How many white women are stranded in Nigeria do you think? The problem with the site is that, because it is totally free to communicate, it attracks all the Nigerian scammers and I feel the site has some obligation to check for phony profiles run by Nigerian scammers.

Thats why THIS site has a button you click, whenever you get a scam e-mail from Nigeria, called "Report Scam" to the Mods for them to check out and delete profiles IF they feel the profile is phony.

ok, it actually called "report spam" but it notifies the Mods about the problem just the same

this site works diligently and continually to get rid of any scammers that slither through our safety nets. please report them immediately via our 'report spam' and/or 'report abuse' features as soon as you detect them. also familiarize yourself with our safety warning posted at the bottom of every page.

the problem is not unique to any site on the internet, however free sites would naturally be attractive. at least we do something about them.

Even paid sites have a ton of scammers. This site is the only one that I have been on that really does something about them. The one paid site I was on, they didn't even have a way for you to report scammers. That is one of the reasons I quit that site. Why pay to be scammed. I am perfectly happy with the way the mods handle the issues on here.

Well by a vote of 4 to 1, you are proven wrong about this site NOT checking out "phony profiles" rkingdoms and by a vote of 3 to 1 you are most welcome to leave Florida for the Bahamas

Yes, they should check for the phony profiles and you find them all over foreign (non U.S.) listings. As you begin your search if you are interested to establish relationship with person in England or Aruba, etc. as example (instead of clicking distance from your home or U.S.) click other locations and there you will find list of all countries in the world except, for some strange reason, not the Bahamas, and you will find 50%+ of them to be Nigerian fraud profiles!! Now they are coming to U.S. profiles. It might be one thing if just a few Nigerian scammers were at this site but they are here by the hundreds or thousands! Speaking of crime in central Florida, last night at about 8:p.m. (this would be Friday night Sept.7,2007) a group of 4+ men armed with rifles shooting at customers for robbery of ATM machine at Wachovia Bank in Orlando, Florida which is now one of the worst cities in the U.S. for crime!!!! Recommendation: Use only Banks with inside ATM machines and use them only during daylight hours or risk your life to get a few dollars from a dangerous outside the Bank ATM machine!!!!

In taking your "vote" you should not limit it to the few people who have responded to this post but you should include all the tens of thousands of people in Florida who now have their homes for sale. Yes, I am proceeding with Bahamas move and I don't know of any terrorists planning to attack there!

Excuse me. Wat I meant to say is that in taking your "vote" you should ask the hundreds of thousands of Florida homeowners who now have their homes for sale (on every block in my city 4 or 5 or more homes for sale!) how they feel about the outlandish wind insurance and homeowner insurance rates in Florida which will soon be passed onto all renters in Florida. Regarding the making of nasty and sarcastic comments have you considered addressing them to your lawyer run and lawyer dominated U.S. governments' "lawyer leaders" (they dominate both Republican and Democratic parties) regarding their past defeated foreign policies in Vietnam where U.S. lost over 58,000 in vain, then how they got U.S. kicked out of Iran forever, then blasted out of Lebanon and now involved in no end conflict in Iraq? Ask them why they are fighting in Iraq when Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and when no one from Iraq was involved in 9-11 and why the spineless cowards are keeping silent that the ones who gave U.S. 9-11 came from SAUDI ARABIA?

Your excused. I still think you are trying to run a scam for people to buy land in the Bahamas thru you.

This site does a great job in cancelling profiles that I have reported to them, after receiving a e-mail from the "scammer" looking for money, a green card etc.

As for my voting, I'll take a poll of everybody who responded and either way you are still OUT VOTED! Dont like Florida? then do what my buddy Jfreak suggests:
if ya don't like Florida, pack your bags and leave!!!!
or better yet:
don't let the door hit ya on the a$$ on your way out...

So, why dont you provide me a list of all those "tens of thousands" of people who was stupid enough to get conned by the morgage companies who sold them their policies?

They spend more then they make and are now faced with foreclosure? OR better yet all those apartment owners who went hog wild and converted all their apartments to CONDOS that never sold "like hotcakes" to the public? They are the main reason there is a increase in foreclosures and as for the people who have their houses for sale, guess they should have tried "flipping" their house for a quick profit.

Everybody knows that the Bahamas is one of many drug capitals of the world and as for a "terrorist" attack there, WHAT can they attack that will "Further their cause"?? Besides cutting off their money line from the drug dealers and gun runners the terrorists aren't that stupid. Besides the crime rate there is higher then Orlando but I guess when you move there you can find out for yourself.

Orlando, Florida which is now one of the worst cities in the U.S. for crime!

Jacksonville has the highest crime rate in FL per an article that was in one of the papers a few months back. Miami, followed by Tampa, then St Pete is higher then Orlando.

No matter where you go there is crime...be it up north, down south, east or west coast.

As for the scammers, I have never had an issue with the powers that be on here not taking care of them, normally within 24 hours. No other site I know of does that or that quickly.
Outlaw is correct about the drugs. I know a few people that lived in the Bahamas for about three years. There are a lot of area's that are not safe to be in and lots of problems with drugs and drug runners.

As for the foreclosure rates, these morons, including the ones my parents are buying a house from, were able to get mortgages for 125% of the value of the house and took adjustable mortgages. You would have to be a fool to do that to begin with. Common sense is the rate is going to go up and your going to have to deal with it payment wise. If you are stupid enough to take a mortgage out of 415,000 and not expect the interest rates to change in 30 years then you are a fool.

This isn't the only state dealing with high taxes or insurance rates. NJ the taxes are about double what they are here. Insurance is about the same. Any state that ends up having a natural disaster is going to end up having higher rates. In FL it is the price you pay for living in a state that is a semi tropical peninsula and a couple of really bad years hurricane wise.

My honest opinion is no matter where you live, you sound like you will find something wrong with it. You just come across from all your past postings and this current one, as a very unhappy man. I hope moving to the islands works for you and you find some happiness in your life.
