This is true....a lot of us, either that knew him a long time or a short time....are hurting.....I am still counting floors of buildings when I drive past them.....but we must try and put those things away....move on....remember the good....forget the bad....honor the memory.

Mystery I know you are hurting and its hard to go about your normal routines when someone you care about it is gone. I had a rough week at work , but work was a good distraction. I find myself crying everytime I sit down at this keyboard when I get home. I think about what would Chris want us to do. I know we have to work through our grief , but I somehow think that Chris would want us to remember him by going out and enjoying the things he loved most. He loved being outdoors, making things grow ,the beach. He loved to travel and explore new places. I think it would make Chris happy for us to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Maybe it would help you to get out and be in the sunshine and enjoy nature that Chris loved so much.

mystery, I know it is hard accepting and dealing with the grief, but like Dove said, Chris wouldn't want us sad, he would want us to be happy and remember him as he was to us.
Not that this will help you, but it has always been one of my ways to deal with passing of friends, family or a beloved pet. I plant something or I have trees planted in the persons name. In this case I did both. As we just moved I planted a few bushes with Chris in my thoughts. I thought he would enjoy the Gardenia's so I bought them in his memory. In my way of thinking, caring for the plant or whatever, watching it grow and bloom is a way to remember the good things in life and the good things in that person.
I also did my normal thing through the Arbor Day Society. For ten dollars they will plant trees in a persons memory. What better way to remember Chris who was so into landscaping.
Here is the link for anyone interested.
