You will be hard pressed to find reasonably priced real estate in Florida.

Have you checked with the City of Clearwater Marina, there are some permanent as well as transient slips there...if they don't have any or they are not reasonable, they may be able to give you some other marinas that may have open slips. I also live in Clearwater

I inquired there last year and actually there is one there that is the most reasonable in the county. I may be getting a slip there if they have any available. And actually that is a pretty nice and fun area! I almost got a small house there just because of that reason, very close to the beach also!

there is a new marina being built on the Dunedin Causeway, I don't know if they will have the live aboard slips or not. There is also one I want to say by the Skyway bridge...I can ask a couple of friends that live that way and Sarasota for you.

That would be great! I know there's one in Tiera Vierde but not sure what the rates or length requirements are.

WOW! that has some great info on it! I'll try to find out more about the smaller marinas and docks that don't advertise, also. Thanks for the link!

try the river hills marina in Tampa it has access to deep draft boats and larger lenghts with full bath facilitys and water and power hookup, full access to ocean, also interbay marina is a good place though bit pricier.

Or $300/year for a mooring, post office box and registration in St. Croix, USVI -- wireless broadband available if you're not too far out in Christensted Harbor

Of course there is always the option of harbor mooring, even in th inland waters, which is totally legal. Some cities and counties require that you move the boat every so often for some reason, but that's no problem. I just don't want to block any waterway or have any trouble with the locals if they think it may interfere with their view.

Maybe I'll just moor in a cove or offshore and take a small runabout in for work. And only bring her in when rough weath is pending.

Your cheapest bet is to find others with same interest and purchase a barge which can move slowly with outboards and then set cargo containers on the barge and the containers can be converted into small homes somewhat like trailers but they are much stronger made out of all steel.

I am not sure, but try Green Cove Springs, FL. Or a lot of folks just anchor by the bridge in St. Augustine....... and do the dinghy thing to land, not very far either.
The G C S spot has drive on pier, so you can park your car next to your boat.

Reply There is the Veterans Administration in St Pete called Bay Pines, behind to the south of it is the Boca Ciega bay, and to the west of it is a nice inlet area that many boats moor year around. It’s a nice spot.

I have seen this place. It is beautiful and has a wonderful view! I was by ther once and although at low tide a deep keel sailboat would list, a regular moterboat or retractible keel, would have no problem.

Yeah maybe you are right,I've seen sailboats in there but it may not have been low tide. Well there is always the Vinoy basin in St Pete, it is awesome to be out there, during concerts at the Vinoy Park or Edge Water Park.

I'm not quit sure what a slip is. Is it the boat, or a place where the boat is moored?
