Am I the only one who has noticed this? You read the profile, yada yada yada and then you finally meet the person and when you compare the profile (text and photo) to the actual person, NOTHING could be further from the truth, there is no likeness whatsoever, I am wondering if a lot of people just copy and paste thier profiles from someone elses profile that they found to be nice or interesting or if thier self assessment skills are that horrific. Self-assessment is a process by which you learn more about yourself and determine what you like, what you don't like, and how you tend to react to certain situations. Knowing these things can help you determine which types of people and situations could be a better fit for you and them. Being mislead is a waste of time and efforts for us all. It would be nice to deal with more accurate profiles here, I mean, if you are a drunk, then just say hey I'm a drunk,.. don't worry, there will be someone out there for you. If you have picked up 100 pounds since high school, do you think we wont notice? dont feel bad about who you are, shout it out!!! do you drool while you eat, dont worry about it, just say so and be honest, and most of all, dont worry, there is someone out there for you,.. but just be HONEST please. It will help so much.
If you agree say YEAH!!!!

YEAH!! lol I couldn't have said it better. I am far from perfect and the first one to admit it. I have never understood the reason behind lying on a profile. If you really do plan on meeting someone they are going to see you lied. Nothing is a bigger turn off to me then being lied to.

I agree with you Witchie ... I am far from perfect too ... but I gotta be real with my own self and others about it, especially when I am posting an advert for the whole world to see and possibly meet a potential mate, I mean we all wish to cast ourselves in the best possible light, of course, definately accent the good stuff, but be honest about the bad stuff too and let others decide for themselves if they want you or not based on the truth, what could be a worse way to start any relationship than starting out with lies, misconceptions etc.... it should be apparent that I am jaded by bad dates ;-) hahaha. Although this topic was not directed at any specific gender or race ... sometimes I think women just want a free dinner even though they not it will not be a sucessful match from the inital contact. (Not you witchie) .. but some of them out there .. THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE... hahaha

Some people do seem to misrepresent who they are on their profiles. But as far as "being a drunk", who is going to admit to that, if they did then they would most likely do something about it

it should be apparent that I am jaded by bad dates ;-) hahaha lol....myself and a handful of others basically have the same attitude!
sometimes I think women just want a free dinner even though they not it will not be a sucessful match from the inital contact. Yes, some are out there just to go out, never caring if the other person is a good match or not. Some I have to wonder if they are lonely and just go to be with someone even if it doesn't work out.
I know I have gone on a couple of "dates" hoping my first overall impression was wrong. I saw something in the person that I liked and hoped that the little things were more the just meeting (online and phone) jitters. Those are ones I would meet at a park or the beach. No free dinner there
as "being a drunk", who is going to admit to that That is very true Minky! My ex was a drinker, but hid it very well for the first year we were together. A good one is really good at hiding the fact, but in the end the drinking ends up showing it's self.

Some people do seem to misrepresent who they are on their profiles. I have to agree with you there Minky, Why say you live in one part of Florida when you really live somewhere else? Had a potential LTR say on her profile she lives in Tampa but in reality she lives near Lakeland.
I try to be honest in my profile and IF the person doesnt like it, too bad! Guess it wasnt meant to be.

Well it aint like I or anyone else wouldn't notice that they were a drunk ... so all I am saying is just be real and honest about it ... and by the way Minky, personally if I was say... a "drunk" well then I would want to seek out another "drunk", so YES Minky, I would state that right in the ad ,,, maybe you Minky are the kind of peson I am talking about here,.. could it be? (just kidding) It seems to me that what you are really saying here is that personal denial is a criteria for a misleading advert? My God, I sure wouldn't want to date you...hahaha
I think this specific post completely re enforces my inital topic heading: Most People Think They Are Better Than They Really Are......(add on) and are willing to mislead you into thinking they are better than they really are!!!

Am I the only one who has noticed this? Well, probably not; but I can honestly say that the vast majority of women I've met on this site were pretty much on the level. I don't mean this as a criticism, but if you are having encounters with phony women, maybe you should review what about their profiles attracted you...you may find a common denominator in their profiles that you found attractive; something to look out for in the future, that may be an indicator of dishonesty.
And the ones that werent? I just chalk it up to "life lesson learned," and keep on rolling...the whole thing fish in the sea comes to mind, but one has to know when one's fishing for trout in a lake full of carp, or using the wrong bait.

You might have a point there Steve! I do confess though, on my behalf, I do try to seek out good qualitys before making any contact. I am sure most of the women on here and the guys too are good kinda folks, I Just had a few sticky wickets and felt compelled to mention it.

OP do you mention your level of education in your profile, or your job, maybe you don't have a job. Are you trying to mislead someone regarding your station in life You state you don't like bitter people, yet you seem bitter, I'm confused

Are you trying to mislead someone regarding your station in life Ok, dumb question....does it really matter all that much about what "station in life" you are or am I misunderstanding how you meant it? I'm taking it as a money/class thing.

He says he has a job, but doesn't say doing what, it could be something immoral, illegal, unethical Point being you can't put every detail about yourself in a profile. You get the details when you talk or meet. Just comes across as sexist, do people still use that word

Most People Think They Are Better Than They Really Are...... Well there are some no doubt that suffer from illusions of grandeur. I have met a few along the way.I would have to say though that the majority of people I have met through this site are pretty awesome people and were just as cool in person as they appear here. For example.. Witchie, Outlaw, Honbee and Jfreak are true blue and genuine.
As for myself I know I am not better then I think I am. I do aspire to be better though. Change is good.

Well, what if your job is ,.. say, a hooker or dope dealer .. I think it would be noteworthy to mention, don't you, I mean that could certainly affect the outcome of a date. What the Hell is a "station in life" anyways? What planet are you on?

I don't see any mean people here Minky, everyone here I have encountered is quite nice, you sound a bit paranoid to me, you might want to get that checked out Darlin, could lead to something serious.
