Is it me or is our society seriously going down the tubes ? People drive with no respect for the law..Many use loud foul language in public..Steal from the elderly..Rape small chidren and even worse Now im a positive guy and I know that there are a lot of good people out there..But I really feel like we need a serious moral turnaround in our great country to keep our station and respect in the world...

Donato all your observations are absolutely true. Our Society has evolved into the " all about me" world. Thankfully there are still a sprinkling of those who that have rised above it. For example the kind man at the grocery store wo helped my mother reach a box of cereal on the top shelf, the man that invited me to walk under his umbrella to my car when the skies opened up, and the lady that returned my daughters wallet when she left it in a dressing room. There is some sense of decency out there but its far less then it once was.
The spanking brand new building I work in is being borrowed this summer by a YMCA day camp. The children that attend are ages five though twelve. The language I hear and the disrespect for property make my hair stand on end. These children are our future, its un-nerving. I am a major advocate for teaching social skills to children as a major part of the curriculum. Its as important as academics. Its a major thrust in the program I work for. Teach them while they are young, make it part of their very being, and hope and pray their parents come on board as well. Its up to us to create a better generation.

Yes Dove there are a still a few good people around but many have become so jaded that they experience culture shock when a man acts like a gentleman or completely misinterpret the good deed ...Sad

I am not happy with how society has ''desensitized' manners, politeness, and courtesy. When I was in Ohio, I lived in the city, and even though there were noise ordinances, no one observd them. Cars would travel through the neighborhood ''thumping'' so loud the walls of the house I stayed in shook...and that was BEFORE the car got close to the house. Even the policemen would not observe the rules they are supposed to enforce (like stop at stop signs).
I remember when I was growing up, if I did not respect someone...not only was my mouth washed out with soap, but I also got my hide tanned. Can we go back to those days?????? (not the washing my mouth out with soap, but you get the idea). It seems that not only when common sense died, manners, respect & politeness died with it.
Just my two cents.
