How about Downtown.... Thornton Park area? Coffee at Starbucks or Panera's, walk around Lake Eola,... just a thought....

I think either of those places would be great we could start off by all of us meeting for dinner first at one of the many restaurants that either place has to offer which will allow for some fun group conversation then on to a club for some fun and dancing!

I could do dinner on a weekend night. Orlando is my preference, of course, because I live here but also because it's between the two coasts so it's central for more people. I really like the Thornton Park area. But if others want to go clubbing and dancing, probably City Walk or Pleasure Island would be better -- much as I hate the tourist area of our, um, metropolis. House of Blues is a suggestion.

Been doing some online research:
I was thinking meeting on Saturday June 10th, around 1PM at Coffee House of Thornton Park, 712 E Washington St. in Orlando. That's near Lake Eola Park. We could have lunch at the coffee house or perhaps picnic in the park. Later we can do dinner and then think about clubbing/dancing. Just my suggestions. What do YOU think?
Keep in mind that I don't know anything about Orlando, the coffee house, or the park.

sounds great to me Greystone, and I don't know anything about Orlando either, guess I will mapquest it...........but think the idea of getting together is great.
I think the idea of lunch and dinner is good, in case you can't make one you can make the other one. If we're going to do lunch, dinner and clubs............are people going to be spending the night............any ideas on motel rooms in the area?

I've got a couch, a futon mattress that I can put in the studio, and some floor space. The illusion you've all had of my gorgeous home will disappear.... hehehe But you're all very welcome to stay.

It sounds like a fun time, we could arrange this around the time Grey suggested for a small impromtu event OR we could go for the gusto and try and get alot of people involved and plan it for like 6 weeks out and have a fri-sun GTG with planned activities. That would give more time to get the word out & give people time to plan and for us to find a hotel that will offer special rates if everyone books that particular hotel. We do this annually here for a 40+ chatroom I go to and have found rates under 60 a night which is very affordable if you don't mind bunking with someone. Even the locals here stay at the hotel so we can all be together for these annual gtg's... that way you don't have to worry about partying to much and having to drive home after!

I almost always agree with you Grey. Spontaneity is great and planning is great, too. How about a small spontaneous meet on June 10 and a planned event for later which can be larger? We really should have this thread in the Get Togethers thread. Wonder if the mods can move it? Or we start separate threads in the other category once we decide the date of each?

How's this for spontaneous:
Seeing as how I have absolutely nothing better to do today, I am going to hop on my bike and point it in the direction of Orlando. I will be at the coffee house at about 1PM. If anyone wants to join me, just walk right up and say hello. I'm the old biker dude with the scruffy beard, wearing a yellow t-shirt and jeans. I'll stick around there for awhile, then check out the park.
