my mother is hawaiian
that doesnt mean i have to be..
its a shame how men think they want darker skin woman
and then for the men who dont like redheads
that is awhole different forum chat lol 
well i moved 3 years to indiana cause i wanted to see what was out there besides hawaii isnt always paradise we had crime also

crime ??? nooooo not there!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?  jk...I wasn't aware that people thought it was just paradise..pretty small minded if you ask me..oopsss nobodys asking me....  i've traveled 1/3 of this country from south Tx to north Mi over to Md/Balt. and down the eastern sea board and back to Tx and pretty much inbetween ...and i mean in a car not flying over it missing most of it....nice folks some places and not so nice others...but crime was pretty much everywhere....just more evident in some places as opposed to others...  bout the only thing i thought/think i know about hawaii is the weather is wonderfull *if the storms don't wash ya away* and the cost of living is much like being back in NY..other then that ...how far off the mark am i? ohh....by the way....i think redheads are the BOMB!!!

Speaking of the crime in the area. You're absolutely correct, there's crime all over. You just have to spend more time in that one particular area to become acquainted with what type of crimes there are.
Here in Hawaii, I've found that violence is pretty high on the list, and most times, it's not reported. Here in paradise, I've become accustomed to hearing about bodies being found. Some due to accidents, and others due to foul play.
Interesting enough, I've heard about more murders living back here then when I lived in Michigan. *go figure*

So true !! My father is Hawaiian, Welsh and moms Portuguese, Look at me ...LOL
Wonderful to see Hawaii represented these forums. And as for crime, I truly feel its
drugs problem that started people having to lock there doors, and still no place on earth like Hawai'i and its Aloha people....

Speaking as a redhead who lives in Hawaii, there is crime everywhere, just like there are bad people most everywhere and certainly good people everywhere too. Almost anyone's first idea of a place they aren't familiar with is an idealized one. That's human nature, my experience with Hawaii, compared to NYC or Savannah, or Atlanta, San Francisco or Denver is that there is an underlying gentleness and sensuality here that I haven't found anywhere else in this country or abroad. I love it and I hope that you find more peace here.

I'll go with the off-topic thread.
I've never been to Hawaii and yes my version of the state is mostly idealized, but I've read books on "the realities of hawaii" which was somewhat of a warning to those thinking they can just move out there and be in paradise.
But you know what? If you're curious and you're able to, I say go for it. I'm working on saving a few thousand and then transferring within my company to the HI offices to give it a shot for a year. I could of course just go out there for a week or two, but that would seem more like a vacation and a vacation tends to be more like paradise, no matter where you are. Maybe I'll love it. Maybe I won't. But the only way to know is to take a chance and see for yourself.
That goes for any high profile place like Las Vegas, NYC, Miami, L.A, or San Francisco.

Yes there certainly is a lot of crime in Hawaii, especially Oahu I think. But I think it's everywhere these days. There certainly is no less crime here in Tennessee. Drug oriented? Yes. But the same here as well. Some 70-75% as I understand it.
It is indeed Paradise out there though, and those who live there are still very fortunate. I'd go back so fast you wouldn't believe it, if I could. Other priorities called me away though. Still I really miss it.

I am a haole girl living in Hawaii and I don't have dark skin either. my boyfriend is Hawaiian and is dark, and I have to admitt....I like it. But then I wouldn't disregard anyone because of skin color or origin anyway. As far as crime, I live on the big island, ICE is our biggest crime problem here. It's pretty rual otherwise, and i LOVE living in Hawaii........the beaches are awesome and i can take weekend trips to the other island real cheap, and my bf has his Ohana (family) on other islands, so we can hop and stay freeeee.........it rocks!!

 Hmmmmm don’t know as a man Why do men think if your from Hawaii .., haven’t really meet anyone as of yet to drawn an honest option, so mean while I have been enjoying site seeing this beautiful island of Oahu and hopefully visit other islands if time permits. I do need some insider tips on places to see and customs it any, food?

I feel you. Honolulu and Oahu is just another land of problems that plague any typical large metro area.

Hey who cares, RED HEADS ROCK! You can't let shallow minded people rule your world, they either like you or don't. I've lived here on Oahu for 9 months now and I expected to be hearing Haole every other comment but I've only been called that once and it was a teenager. 99% of the natural born natives I have met are super cool! Predjudice exist everywhere, it's not exclusive by any stretch of the imagination. I'm from TN and there are some racist MOFO's there but you have to ignore them. The main thing I have learned here is that you have to prove yourself to the locals, prove that you are here to stay and not leave after 3 months, prove that you have a good heart, prove that you are worthy of friendship. I think it's universal. I have made some really good friends since I've been here and if someone doesn't like me I usually kill them with kindness until they break down and realize that I'm not the bad guy. I am here to live and grow just like everyone else. It's hard but you have to be open minded.
