Yep, Illinois has the unfortunate reputation of being one of the worst places in America to be single. I would probably have more luck in Nevada or Utah than I do in Illinois.

Yeah, but they all live in Chicago. You can forget about it if you happen to live in the Quad Cities or anywhere in rurual Illinois. Sometimes I wonder why we don't just rename the whole state "Chicago."

Illinois is a nice state to meet great people. I have never been to Chicago, either! Maybe we are just more selective (I am).

No fake here. I tell it like it is .............some people like that and some people don't. It is just as difficult to find an honest man here as well. The one's that respond to me are half way across the states or the local men have a tendency to turn up married or something. So, I do agree that is is difficult to find a special someone in Illinois that you can truly connect with.

God Rare! where do you get all that real knowledge from? I'm impressed. And so right you are.
Bitter experience.
I joined the Sierra Club because I wanted to help make a difference. My "local" chapter is in...Chicago. (I get a newsletter from that chapter every month. It almost never mentions events or issues outside of Chicago.)
I search for the lowest air fares. In spite of the fact that Moline has an airport, the lowest quote is always for...Chicago.
When I tell people that I live in Moline their response is "Huh? Where is that?" If I say that I live near the Mississippi River, their response is some variation of "What part of the country is that in?" If I say that Moline is not too far from Chicago, however, their response is often "Hey, cool!"
I can still remember when we got a day off of school back in 1986 when it was "Casimir Pulaski" day. Even my teachers had to do considerable research in order to find out who he was and I would be willing to bet that nobody outside of Chicago knows who he was today.
And so it goes...

Funny that no matter where you live in Illinois, everyone always assumes you are from Chicago. It's a big, long state and I am far from Chicago. But I like it here.

WOW, for sure. Every time I say I'm from Illinois, I have to explain that I live 200 miles SOUTH of Chicago.....not IN Chicago. As for naming the state Chicago, I've often wondered that myself. Then when someone asks where in Chicago you live, you can say...east central Chicago!!! LOL
Funny thing is, I have been all over the US and also overseas, and I always come back to Illinois.

Do you know people can tell we are from here though....some people from down south actually know our "Chicago" accent?

You know, funny thing...
Everyone I have met that I am most compatible with
live outside of Illinois. Finding someone around here, is
something of a crapshoot as far as I am concerned.
Not all of us men are dishonest either, some of us are honest
to a fault, and we still can't get dates..... What's the
problem here?????
