Former Gov..Geo Ryan..is a slob..with blood still on his hands..and we all hope and pray..that Pres Bush says "NO" to any sentence commute..he already got a break with a slap on the wrist from our court system. We used to respect former Gov Big Jim Thompson...but with his support now behind Ryan..the real colors come out..he's a jerk too.

"Blood on his hands" is not at all accurate. Ryan's last act as Govorner was to commute the death sentences of all prisoners in Illinois. He allowed murders, rapists, child killers and every other kind of capitol crime to go unpunished by the penalties set down by law. Ryan should get his full sentence and then some but there's no blood on his hands. There really should be.

You are sooo spot on !!!...Personally, I feel that the deaths of an entire family by an illegal trucking operator can be trickled down to the foot of Ryan. As well it should be..because, that became a prosecution edict during Ryans' trial..Additionally, its no like Ryan is sitting behind bars...no way...he's in a virtual country club..with all amenities afforded white collar crimes, with mobility, decent food and recreation..hardly parallels punishment.

If you or I commited the types of crimes George did we would never see daylight again. George is in the place where he belongs, just wonder how long it will be before his buddy Rod joins him? I would say when the dust settles 3 out of the last 5 Illinois governors will have done time. Wake up people of Illinois we need to fix our political system. Oh by the way didn’t all of the legislators just get a raise?

It might MIGHT help if we would elect a governor that isn't from CHICAGO area! Elect someone from downstate who knows what the farmers and "little people" are going through.

Come on now, what would Illinois be like without horribly corrupt governors? Ryan was bought and paid for just like Blagoyavich and im sure ol Rod will be in the news after his term is done and they get him on all the stuff hes done. The only way we will get a decent governor is to impeach Chicago.

George Ryan is a hero in my eyes...Nominated twice for the nobel peace prize for his work that went against his own party to get rid of the death penalty in illinois. I fully believe this is a huge reason why the republicrats went after him and lumped him into the trucker scandal. In my eyes he has far less blood on his hands than any other person who has ever served in this country. He was able to commute the horrible death sentences handed down by racist courts. He saw the inequalities and the injustices that were going down in illinois. DNA proved that illinois had in fact put to death multiple innocent people, and many more innocent people were getting ready to die. He show so much courage to stand up and say I had enough of this crap. In my eyes and his putting to death one innocent man will never be made up by putting to death 1000 guilty men. I used to be a huge supporter of the death penalty, but I saw we were lumped into the same category as Iran, China, Russia, Zimbawae, and many other horrible countries that still kill people. The USA needs to be more like Europe where every since European country minus one old USSR country has outlawed state sanctioned murders...The f***ing end

Dear Sir:...In "Your Eyes"...Geo Ryan is a hero...then you most certainly need your eyes examined !..Family, father, wife, children wiped out buy an illegal trucker that obtained sanctioned licensing via Geo Ryan..and that's just the beginning. Read the court transcripts..his hands are dripping with the blood of innocent victims. Conversely, that "Grandstand" play to commute death sentences for all those killers..that were judged by their peers as guilty..begs the average IQ (Yours) to sympathize with his "Plight"...he got exactly what he deserved..only not long enough. He lives the life of a country club resident, hardly a behind the bars kind of criminal..albeit that's what he deserves. As for your reversal on the death penalty, you and your kind have yet to come up with a deterrent for all those crimes of killinig innocent people..apparently you ignore that their lives were taken before they had their chance at life...while you side with the killers to enjoy life regardless of circumstances..so explain to all of us..how you would punish the drive by shooters that kill innocent children..take their lives, their destiny, all their hopes for living....words cannot explain away any sentence short of a equal result for the crime committed..meaning..a .357 does the trick nicely, quickly, painlessly, and equally. YOu to to the families of parents who've lost children to senseless murders by gang bangers and explain, that the criminals are not to be punished for their crimes.

Well obviously you are a dope. I have a suggestion for you. You serve on a jury and if you wrongly convict a rapist, murder or any other “criminal”, then you give that person your life savings. This will deter people from wrongly convicting people and basing convictions on faulty supposed eye witnesses. These for the most part are people who just want to feel important in a world where they are insignificant. I feel Europe does a pretty damn good job deterring murders. Why does the USA have a murder rate much higher than any country in Europe? Is it because of the great deterrent of state sanctioned murders? If a person is a murder then they should rot in jail. Let them suffer there. What is the rush to stick a needle in them? Why not let the evidence play it self out. Would you like me to name 1000’s of people who have been let go because of new evidence…How about people who have been wrongfully killed in state sanctioned murders.
When exactly is a person going to be in rage and on their way to do a nice killing going to be rational enough to think…man if I do this murder I may get a needle in my arm 25 years from now…This just doesn’t happen. I do not side with killers, I side with the wrongfully convicted! Again I would rather let 1000 killers go free than to ever commit a state sanctioned murder of one innocent person.
And by gangbangers do you mean blacks or maybe in your eyes "niggers"? Here is another FACT. A black killing a white is 10 times more likely to face the death penalty than a white killing a black.
I stand by my premise that George Ryan is a hero and so do the people who nominate others for the Nobel peace prize. We are talking about someone who was nominated twice for this great honor. He made the mistake of surrounding himself with dopey people like you when he was Secretary of state.
I want you to make the statement that you would rather kill an innocent person ,eventhough they were conviceted by a jury of 12 dopes who couldnt get out of jury duty most of them dumb ass white trash who think that the 60 bucks they make per day is bank, than to let a guilty person go free...if you can look yourself in the mirror and not feel any guilt then you truly are just a bad person
