Illinois seems to be so full of controversy that it's hard to date. Everyone here is either exactly the same or completely different than the next person. There are no in betweens. Everytime I meet someone, they're identical to me or so different that I can't stand them. And if you're identical to me, uh oh. We definately won't be dating for long, we'll both be so hard headed that there won't be a relationship at all when we're finished. Haha! Anyways, just thought I'd give some input on the whole dating in IL thing.

Seriously, I know there is. I've seen people on actual dates here in the Chicago area. I think it's a secret club. I've been trying to infiltrate it, but I've heard that you have to know someone to get in.

Perhaps dating in Illinois is not much different than any other part of the US. It seems like we all search for someone to spend time with and enjoy their company. My problem seems to be that those who live close don't seem to be interested and gentlemen from 500 miles away are--do others have this problem?

Cherokee, I raise my hand to that. I'm having the same experience. It's very frustrating. On the flip side, sometimes a guy who is close by might be interested in me, but I'm not interested in him. So I guess it works both ways. 
Anyway, I'm still hopeful. The thread is about dating in Illinois, but I have to confess that I would prefer not to have to spend the entire date traveling across the state to get to the date itself. Chicago area would be nice, since it's where I am.

You are not lying when you say that...All the guys I talk to that live like next door are ignorant and nothing but pervs, but like you say someone 500 miles away and you just click with that person. Maybe I should move 500 miles away..lol but then im sure the same situation will happen again and the next guy will be another 500 miles away...

There are no guarantees involved in dating. We are all different and can be different people at different times. No one method will work with everybody. We just basically throw the dice whenever we try to contact somebody.

Not a matter if there is dating in IL. If you want, every one here can find someone to go out with tonight if they wanted. It’s just a matter if that is the type of person you are looking for. It comes down to what you are looking for. Where you are looking for, and what you are will to accept. There are plenty of single people out there. You meet them every day. I’m sure you can name at least ten you know of, that you deal with every week in your life. So people are out there. It comes down to what we are looking for. We would all love the Prince or Princess of our dreams. But we have to be realistic about it. Yes I know I will not have the date with that super model or have some thing in common with that movie star. But I set my goals on what I like about my self and what I like about my life. If you’re not looking at what you desire but for what makes you happy ..Be it a hobbies or music... or camping...ECT.
Then you will find a lot of people out there. That are single. And you know what, you will find you got a lot in common. Will this lead to happily ever after ..not sure…but it is a good start. And if it don’t, work out you have a friend with something in common.
This leads to where you are looking for dates. We all know Online is a big gamble and so are personals. There are a lot of messed up people out there. So start my talking and looking for stuff you have in common. You can tell if you ask them about a hobby or event that you like to do if there serious about it or just blowing smoke. But that’s true about any of the place one goes to look for a person to get involved with. But have you tried looking in the not so obvious places. If you like sports try a sporting event or music for a concert. Hobby at a hobby event. From what I found is not shooting for what I desire and looking for just what makes me happy in a person seems to make the dating thing go and work a lot easier.. Well that’s my two cent’s hope it helps.
