Stop thinking of yourself as "average"...take stock and discover what it is about you that's exceptional (and I'm sure there's alot, if you can be honest with yourself  )...and then your confident "attitude" will shine through!

Nothing wrong with nice, average guys. If you come to the party, you'll probably be made to feel very special since it sounds like men may be greatly outnumbered by the women.

OK, right there, you just put yourself "above average", Stealth! There's such a thing as being "too modest" when you're online and theoretically trying to "sell yourself"

Heck, after we all get to know each other at the party, these Indiana forums should come to life.

Some people, men and women, just don't know what they want. And when you don't "fit" they will try to let you down nicely.
Please do not take other people's "rejections" to heart. You are who you are and that's enough for many!
