what is it with young guys that want an older woman..i think that 3/4 of the mail that i get are from younger guys that are around my daughters age. I feel flattered and i know that love has no age but.........give me some thoughts here...

I realize this is an old thread. But it caught my eye.
I don't typically go for older women. Once in awhile I will run into one that I think is very attractive. But my own personal goals usually prevent me from dating any of them.
Here recently I have been meeting a lot of older women that are all about the younger guys. Some with kids my age or older. I don't know what it is exactly that they see in younger men. I guess it boosts their personal self esteem if they can catch a young man. It is quite flattering to have an older woman hit on me. I can honestly say older women are more persistent when they decide they want a younger guy. I do sincerely respect that. Younger women could definitely learn a thing or two from older women.
Most of the older women I have ran into have already done marriage and raised their children. Not that it is a bad thing. I really have no problem with dating a woman who has kids. I just want kids of my own. I really wish older women that go for the younger guys would think about that. In some cases I really think it would be selfish for an older woman who has already experienced marriage and the upbringing of children to settle down with a younger guy that hasn't experienced fatherhood yet.

I seem to be having the opposite problem! It seems the majority of the men contacting me are older (50's+), if and when anyone does!! Like you said, I know love doesn't/shouldn't have an age, but my parents are in the early 40s....just kinda seems weird.....any thoughts on that?

I don't mind a younger guy, after all, age is just a number. What I look for is the maturity level. I dated a guy 16 years my junior, but he was very mature. People who had met him guessed him at about 10 years older than what he was because of how he acted.
That's my 2 cents - can I have change? LOL

I am 63 and I've been widowed 5 years. The average of guys that contact me is 45..usually between 35-45 and some as young as in their 20's. I have absolutely nothing in common with them. For a long time I just blew them off...I was flattered but I thought it was foolishness on their part.
Now I'm not adverse to dating a guy in their 30's if he acts mature. As far as my wanting a serious involvement with a guy..even in their late 40's...I don't think so and certainly not any younger than that....that is if I wanted to get married again and I don't.
I'm young for my age and I enjoy dancing and being active...no rockin' chair for me. But RS4X4 is absolutely right...young guys need to find someone their own age and have a family.
Most older women that date younger men is nothing more than they meet one they like and just want to enjoy a relationship for however long it last...just have fun, nothing more, nothing less...no hidden reason or hidden agenda.
Younger men like that in an older woman....no hidden agenda with them...no pressure to develop a serious relationship. Older women are established and secure and usually aren't looking for any commitments.

I am going to bump this thread up again as I am in the position of the younger guy. I much prefer an older woman. 30-40 the maturity levels seem to match more and they ahve experienced things in life that the younger ones haven't. I have been through more in my life at 25 than most do all their lives.(not a comment that is trying to start a debate as I will not compare war stories for fear of drudging up the past)
Women tend to mature fully at a younger age than men but still yet most of them are still undecided on what they want in life until they are older. I know what I want and I'm tired of wishy-washy women. I want a woman that is ready to enjoy life with one person, not one that 'needs to find herself'

My last b/f was 8 years younger than I am. But he was too stuck in his ways. He acted 8 years older than me! I don't mind dating younger but I think 10 years is about the limit. And that would be the limit on older guys too. You just have to be able to find some common ground. What kind of things would I have in common with a 20+ guy? Not much.

I am with you sign 10 years is my limit also, I don tsee how I could possibly have anything in common with someone that is the same age as my oldest daughter. I prefer the ages between 38 & 60 myself.

LOL Of course I'm not going with the notion of meeting a man, there's just too many nice people I want to meet, both male and female. Looking for friends I guess.

It's a game for them. I suppose it all started with that "Stacy's mom" crap. From what I've seen some are tactful and some are not. A lot of teenagers hit up on older women on MySpace. They usually hit up on them in droves. The idea is that one may come along.
