I agree with Lucky this is a time for adults. Children are wonderful, but when your a single parent its not easy to just get away for any period of time and be with adults.

Gee, I am a single parent.

But if children aren't welcome then I won't be able to come. There are some thing I will do without him but camping is not one of them.

That's cool.

I rarely get tie away from mine as I have no help, but I couldn't go camping without him.

Now Vegas would be another story.

My bunkie and I were thinking about maybe having a cabin decorating contest for next year. We can't let cabin #4 be the only one with a homey touch. Any ideas on this???? Signme and I have already started to think up ideas for our cabin.

I agree with Lucky this is a time for adults

Some parents are single and can't just "pawn" their kids off for a weekend to go camping. Some single parents have no one who is willing to watch their children for even one night.

That's why I was not interested in coming this year. Thanks for reminding not to make plans for next year either.

Please address all of this in the General Talk thread. Gray was kind enough to start this thread for ideas only. It will help him a lot if we keep it to just ideas. Trust me, it is very hard to keep up with so many threads, and wade through all of our chatter... not that we don't enjoy it, but to make his job easier.

Thank you.

thank you lucky an luv for getting this thread back on topic and jsut a reminder, rosebud started the thread for which I am really pleased as it does make it easier to track the suggestions. Later today I will start posting some of the responses to a few and this will happen from time to time. If you do not see your exact suggestion it will only be becuse it was the same as anoter and the wording of the otehr was used for posting. Rest assured every idea is being tracked and will addressed at some point along the way. Thanks again for getting the thread back on topic.

Your Welcome gray, I already made a suggestion to Luvvy and I think that christams lights would be a great idea to light the path to the restrooms and cabins also the main campsite............I have so many and so does my Mom and she has agreed to let me have the ones she never uses anymore......... Let me know what your thoughts are on this.

Or maybe a change of venue to Arizona would get more west coasters and others there

There has been much discussion about possibly moving the campout from year to year and after the 2009 it might be considered. The thoughts at this time is that it would be restricted to the Central portion of the United States so that it would not place an undue burden on the from the extreme East or West coast if they want to attend. The states currently being thought of as possible sites would include, Mn., Wi., Mi., Oh., In., Il., Iowa, Ks., Mo., Ar., Tn., Ms., Ky., Ok. This was discussed by a few around the campfire and will need lots of future discussion and work should it be decided to go in this direction after the 2009 campout. One thing that everyone needs to keep in mind should this direction be taken is that it will require someone in the selected state to step up and be willing to be the Host or Hostess and that person will need to be willing to put in an effort such as that done by Luv and her key helpers for the past campouts.
If people in other areas want to host and be the lead on a separate local campout then we encourage them to do so and wish them all the luck in a successful campout. Experience has determined that the lead person needs to be local to where the campout is held as there is much up front work that has to be done by this person and there helpers.

Should you have comments or wish to discuss the directions being taken on any response to suggestions please e-mail me directly and do not post them here. Thanks

Horizon had a great suggestion in one of the other threads about using solar walk way lights to the cabins. This is a great idea with easy insertion in the ground ( May in Ind the ground should be very soft), no extension cords needed or trip over, no worries about elec. availability. Something we can all look for at the end of the season for sales.

We tried for one in Iowa 4 years ago, and it fell apart. Not that it couldn't work But right now I wouldn't plan a big one here!
nothing against Indiana-I had a blast there last year! And I, for one, appreciates the hard work Luvvy has put into this-twice.

I just thought AZ is a big draw, we have friends there, the weather would probably be great, and we have so many Californians here, it could get them to come.

Missouri has lots of great places...
Plane tickets may be cheaper those places, also.

Just something to keep in mind.

Sugar Valley has someone who cleans the bathrooms in the evenings, at least replaces toilet paper and cleans the sink area and dumps trash. I would think a few extra rolls of toilet paper from us would do it. The antibacterial soap is a good idea--that way you don't need the paper towels either. But may be good to have a few rolls of those also in the bathrooms. And I would like to suggest air fresheners. Glade Nuetralizer is really good--I use it in the cats' litter box room. It works well. One for each of the 4 stalls with maybe 1 or 2 replacements available.
