I'm a young guy who is smart and full of himself but when I look in the mirror I see this old guy looking back at me. Surely that can't be me.
We always see ourselves in different perspective than others see us.
Here's a chance for honesty.
Who among you will step forward and tell the world what you percieve of yourself and tell what you see in your mirror.

Lordy, lordy,,the mirror don't lie. I will say, totally clothed I look damn good! But I know what's under the clothes, although I've weathered the storm fairly well there's just no way to get past some of the aging process.
Agnes & Mary(my boobs) don't quite stand up to attention like they use to & I'm very grateful that wrinkles don't hurt. I even took all my full length mirrors down in fear I'd walk by one of them naked and be in a permanent state of depression.
I'm very honest with myself, I'm not what I use to be, but I live each day to the fullest, as if it was my last, knowing one day I'm gonna be right!

it isnt the mirror i am afraid of.. its the naggin little aches and pains that remind me that i am not 20something or 30something. back, knees, and other things that arent easily ignored. gray hair, well, salt/pepper, that can be fixed. well, my son is proud of his 6-pack (ok, he is 12!) and teases me about my keg!

I have no problem with who is looking back at me in the mirror. I know who I am, and who that person is. I know my faults, and I know my strong points. How others see me, and what they may think of me, is thier right, and thier opinion. Just as what I see, and think of them, is my right. Am I perfect??? haaaaa Far from it, but who I see myself as, and who that person looking back in the mirror see's me as, are in "PEFECT" agreement.
And by the way "Bo". Thanks for checking my profile, but please don't send me a WINK. Really, I'm not your type. And, we do wear a different kind of HAT. My feeling, is that you could be a better person than you portray yourself to be on here, but maybe you just have to pay more attention to what that person looking back at you in the mirror is saying to you. JMO

Bo, I misread the question maybe. I thought you meant what we see in the mirror physically so my first answer stands.
Though I'm not the same as I was when I was say 30, physically, I am still the same personality wise,,,,Yep,,still my same lovable self,,I've not compromised my principle, etc., I know our thinking changes as we mature. I think for the better,,JMO. Guess you could say my innards/what I'm made of has stayed the same, but the physically has changed,,ever so slightly! NOT!!
When it comes to women my age,,once you get passed a few wrinkles there's a gold mine waitin' for you!!

Upbeat,
Those who know me know that I wouldn't be referring to the exterior..I'm much more interested in the character of a person.
So to clarify....for those who want to participate......what is the difference between what you see in the mirror and who you see in yourself ? (Of course this will be a subjective perspective.)

I am doing everything I can to assure that I NEVER turn 40. I have been dying my hair for several years, but it was getting too thin, so I spent thousands on hair restoration surgery. It is growing in slowly now. I still think I can pass for mid thirties. I have a few of those pains, but next month I am getting a little foot surgery that should clear it up and I will feel like 30 again. I will do what ever it takes to stay feeling and LOOKING young.

When I am looking in the mirror (looking at my outside) - sometimes I see an older guy and sometimes I am thankful that I have aged pretty good.
As far as the inside - I know that I am respectful to others - I know that I hope the best for everyone - I know that I go about things trying to be considerate of others - I know that I try not to mislead others - I know I am only looking for one - I know that I am honorable.
So ...........
It is none of my business what others think of me - that is their business.
I would love to claim that thinking as mine (the none of my business) - but the truth is - I read it somewhere. I use to look at it as - there was/is nothing I could do about what others think ... but I like looking at it as - it is none of my business what other think of me.
When I got the big shocking announcement (it came totally unexpected) from what I thought was my best friend for life - I was devastated. It was the ultimate “I don’t like you enough anymore - you are not good enough anymore”. That put me in school whether I liked it or not. It was forced education.
Three years later - I now have a PHD in - I just don’t care anymore about what others think of me - it is none of my business.
If I am not young enough - rich enough - handsome enough - exciting enough - intelligent enough to someone / for someone - that is their business - it is none of my business.

What I see is a person who can be happy, yet always strive for improvements in myself and the world around me. And I don't always do the best I can.
in reference to a point made...
If a person is ugly on the inside they will never be a beautiful person. Good and real people should see a person for what is in the heart soul and mind. At some point, its all gonna fall off-why spend bunches of money to get the end result?
You WILL, in fact turn a year older every year.

Loreli,,you're absolutely right,,be happy in who you are,,we can all improve, but when it's said and done my theory is..marry someone who is around your age,,this way when their eyesight wanes,,they won't notice your outward short comings.
Ron, great philosophy,,I don't care what others think either..I just gotta please myself and I do that every day that I'm with myself..lol! I like who I've become...grrrrrr...go get um tiger!!
People in your life can enhance your life, but no one can complete it..only you!!

Aries, I sincerely hope you were kidding us, and not yourself!!
For me, I see someone who tries hard, fails often, gets up and tries again. I see frown lines from concentration but plenty of laugh lines too. Probably slightly more mischief than usually shows up here, and someone who belly laughs rather than giggles...and is a lot more likely to laugh if a fart escapes than to be offended by it.
And the poor silly fool in the mirror STILL doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up!
