This may sound silly, but how many of you take yourselves out on dates regularly? I told someone earlier that I did it all the time, and he's never heard of such a thing! I take myself to dinner, buy myself flowers, and even have some damn fine conversations with myself in the car on the way home (just kidding...sort of.) Have I just been single too long??

I don't have to do any of that. I have an imaginary boyfriend who takes care of things.

You kiddin', I take myself out all the time...lol. It's either that or stay at home twiddling my thumbs.
Just this weekend, both Friday and Saturday nights, I went out to the local club to hear music. It was a lot of fun.
The sad thing is I was surrounded by tables full of women (Girl's Night Out, couple Birthday parties, etc). Sheesh, opportunity all around me...lol. But I had no idea if they're married or have steady boyfriends, and I'm not the type to go up and make conversation. It feels too awkward or like I'm using some line. So I had to be content to just sit there listening to the tunes.
I go see movies at the theater, concerts, plays. Of course it'd be better with female company, but to date just to have a woman to talk to on social outings is too expensive. I can't afford it just to have company. Then it feels like I'm using some sort of escort service.

I do it as well, although the places I go are usually full of people or are some type of group events, I still have no problem at all going alone.
Hey, if you can't take yourself out for a good time, how could you do it for anyone else?

i would take myself out - but i drive myself crazy, dang back seat driver. there was this one time i took myself out to dinner, lovely candelit atmosphere, i wined and dined myself (and i never had to worry about who would pick up the tab or if the i would consider myself cheap - omgosh)...and overall i had a great evening....
of course, i really didn't appreciate those people forcing me into the white jacket - i mean true it was cold that evening - but WHAT, just WHAT a fashion faux paux....
since that evening things have been sort of uncomfortable around myself - oh, i still talk to me - but usually it's just hello, goodbye etc...
i'm thinking of seeing a therapist to work on my issues
issues....ah........SO many issues, so little time....

I take myself out from time to time. Nothing too fancy but a nice dinner once in a while. Sometimes I'll take a motorcycle ride up the coast and find a little cantina or seafood shack and treat myself. I think everybody needs to force themselves out of the house once in a while.

What I hate most is the whole issue of sex on the first date when I take myself out...do I or don't I...I'm such a tramp.
Seriously though, yes I do take myself out. Whether it's clothes, computer parts, or dinner and a movie...it's great "feel good therapy"

I'm like Mary, I had an imaginary girlfriend for a while.
She dumped me and ran off with the drummer in our imaginary band.
I was crushed... and the band broke up...
Although we have been talking about an imaginary reunion tour in the spring.

I don't date myself. 'Myself' is a naughty girl at the best of times, and doesn't need any romancing for a night of naughtiness. Much cheaper than a man and more satisfying as well.

I think it's important to be good to yourself and not wait for a relationship so that someone ELSE can do these nice things for you. Why not spoil yourself? You deserve it

I don't mind going out to dinner alone are to a movie. I guess if might have sounded better if the thread said" How many people go out alone and have fun". . but the point is well made. I do most everything alone and I am used to it. It is better than sitting home and being bored.
