No, I want to care for a man who cares for himself physically, mentally, and spiritually. In my opinion, failure to eat healthy foods and exercise is in the same class as smoking and overindulging in alcohol or taking drugs. It says that the person is not planning on having a long and active life. I want to live to well over 100. I want a man who wants to live with me to the end of my life.
I might make an exception for someone who was working at and succeeding in losing the fat as I know from experience that we can all go through down times.

Ok...I live in a small town in Idaho....a town where men are men; women are scarce; and sheep are scared. That being said, as desperate as the dating situation is around here, I'm still not dating a fat man...not any man for that matter...well....unless he is a good dancer... ....even then...he better not be fat...after all... I DO have a reputation to keep intact.

Why is it that I'm tempted to make some kind of Wolf/Sheep's clothing comment?

Some peeps consider fat to be 5 lbs overweight...some say more than that. I prefer someone who tries to take care of themselves...I think that reflects respect for self.

I can just see Sunbabe grinning sheepishly as she pops another pun at Desertwolf...
As for me, and the original topic - if I liked the guy and really enjoyed his company (sense of humor, interests, just general feeling about life, etc.), I'd date him in a heartbeat. And if health issues arose (or, ummmm, failed to arise) and the relationship was at a point where that would be of concern to me , I'm pretty sure we'd find a way to work it out...

I was married to a big guy. He was about 5'8" and weighed 295 at one point in our marriage. He was big when I met him but not that big. I fell in love with his heart and compassion. Also he was the most romantic man I have personally ever known. Too bad he turned out to be a mama's boy, and the old hag couldn't stand me.

I think people are attracted to all sorts of different types. We have all at one point look at a couple that looked mismatched and though...what the hell is she doing with him or god I know I look better than her why is he with her. Its all a matter of taste or preference. Now there is a difference between being attracted to someone and actually caring what their size it. I can look at a hot guy and think.."oh my god" but that doesn't mean I would want to have a relationship with him based on that. I think that is one of the reasons internet chat started in the first place. People we able to communicate and strike up a relationship not based solely on appearances. Now days though people wont even look at a profile that doesn't have a picture.
Anyways....I think if you care for someone the size wouldn't matter.

sweat till your cloths need the washer and dryer is another I think about this everytime I go into Walmart. I don't know why, but I ALWAYS get hot flashes in Walmart. People are prob thinking, man that fat girl needs to loose some poundage. Yes, I admit I do, but the sweating thing isn't just the extra pounds around my middle. I don't do this when I go to the mall or other stores, just Wally world.
I did have fun one night while playing Charades For Dummies, I layed on the floor, making the water sign and just flopped around. YEP, beached whale!!

Lots of good replies, and you all expressed your view points well. It's a subject that you don't see mentioned alot, although you do see the other side (would a man date a fat girl) often enough. I did notice that many of you commented on my use of the word fat. I used to belong to a group called Overeaters Anonymous, and one of the things they teach is to be honest about your condition and not hide behind phrases like "thick", "brawny", "big boned", and so on. Confront the condition, so that's what I do. Sorry if it offends you.

Depends on the guy... who he is as a whole. He could have alot to offer that would offset the - let's be honest - undesirable aspect of being overweight.
My simple answer is... yes. And, I would hope that some men would date me even though I'm fat. Yes, I'm fat. I admit it and really don't give a damn. I'm still one hell of a woman with plenty of attractive attributes.

The only problem I would have with dating either one of you is that you live too far away. Move closer!
