How does one get hurt...if its just beginning?
If you have an interest....you just say.....I'm interested in getting to know you better and seeing if we have any common grounds to build a future relationship on....this is what I'm looking for...blah blah blah....are you interested? Cuts out all the BS...

Best to get it out in the open right away, in my opinion... Just be open and honest, and let the chips fall where they may... If you find that the feeling is not reciprocal, then at least you haven't wasted lots of time and energy, not to mention feelings, on something that will never be..
I say just go for it...

I don't think you have to. I think it will most likely be obvious thorugh body language, tone of voice, laughter (sorry Deveray!), facial expressions, reactions to conversation and the famous "spark" between the two of you. I have a hunch your behind-the-question is, If it's mutual, if it's genuine...you both know.Otherwise, it is just one-sided.

I've been hurt enough times already that the fear of getting hurt isn't really an issue any more. Thats not to say that there is no fear, just that it's something that is part of life.
Don't let the fear of failure prevent you from trying.

Two Tall you canONLY get hurt if you allow yourself to... being upfront and letting them KNOW you have more than a passing interest saves BOTh of you the embarassment of reading the wrong signals ...

"I enjoy being together" "I enjoy our time together" "I enjoy you," most often She'll get the jest. If you're unsure try "I'm really interested in you".

Step One. Stop worrying about getting hurt. Step two. Know that if you don't ask you won't know if anything is there. If there isn't anything on the other side.... better to know now.
Don't take it personally if the person isn't as interested... if you can.
Just my two cents.

Well if ya really er interested....
don't blow your nose without a kerchief... don't set your teeth on the table while sharing that first dinner date... don't forgit to say thank she pays fer the meal...(well, you're paying fer the gas) limit your after dinner drinks to less than a 6 pack... always fart downwind... make sure ya clean out the truck and put the seat back in for ya pick her up... and if ya got some live stock in the back it's best to unload 'em first... bring them coupons that fall out the paper so she's knows your thrifty.... ask fer extra napkins at the drive thru... don't ask her to push when the truck breaks down...(less it's on flat ground) make sure you offer her a toothpick after supper...
ya do all that and yer bound to 'tract someone from Kansas
Jeb..
