Women love us for our defects. If we have enough of them, they will forgive us everything, even our gigantic intellects - Oscar Wilde

Hah! One thing you don't have is a defective intellect!
Mike - my comment on that to Oscar would be that his gigantic intellect was only exceeded by his ego (unlike Robo - take that as you will )
And I wonder...does it work both ways?

Women love us for our defects I am not so sure I love because of the defect...
If we have enough of them, they will forgive us everything, even our gigantic intellects If you have enough of them, I might not think you to be so intelligent.

And I wonder...does it work both ways? Yes, I do believe it does. As long as I think the defects aren't so overwhelming that you can no longer see the person, or the intellect so big, you can't sit in the room with it!

Then again... I'm sensing... I'm wrong on this...
With too much love, can we blind ourselves to anothers' defects?

Women love us for our defects It depends entirely on the defect.
Nobody's perfect, but trying to excuse one's self for some faults just won't cut it.

Oooohhh... the definition of infatuation!
I think love sees the defects, it's just infatuation that's blind. One person's defect is another one's Wowser!! Whether it be intellect, geekiness (lots of us consider that a wowser, we've even had threads on it), goofiness, even absentmindedness, those are lovable defects, but cruelty, nastiness, intolerance...nope, no way, no how would I love someone for those defects.
Of course, this is my list of lovable defects, YMMV.
(And Loozinit...ya think that's why we girls all love horses???)

but cruelty, nastiness, intolerance...nope, no way, no how would I love someone for those defects. That's a good thing!!
There are many that sometimes find themselves perhaps attracted to such behavior, and then are trapped by it, or they ignore that behavior thinking they can change someone, and they can't.
I know too many (1 is too many...) relationships where someone has been abused. The person trapped, they can't get away. You can call the police all day, but it's hard for them to get enough evidence if there's no sign of abuse, or no one willing to speak of it.
My friend's sister, her husband, while she was pregnant with their child, fighting again, went to her mothers. I think she was going to leave him. He appeared at their front door, and shot her in the head while she was standing next to her mother.
He then ran, was caught by the police, and hung himself in his cell.
She lived, the bullet still there, in her head, the child was born and is healthy. This was years ago, and I tell you even now I remember all this, my friend, caught in this, his sister, unable to really help, or do much at all.
I am glad that story ended as well as it did. I just don't know how she ended up with someone like that in the first place. Was it love? Infatuation? Or was it a lack of belief in herself that she could ever be loved by someone who was more worthwhile?
I don't know. I don't know her. But I do know I read these threads and profiles and find that people can get lonely and perhaps infatuated and then can end up getting used, though they'd hope that'd not be the case. I hope people do as you do, they do not give in to infatuation, and will not sell themselves short, or EVER allow themselves into a relationship with those types of qualities...
I apologize if that's off topic too much... And pretty heavy...
