forum posts - do they hurt your chances?

I was wondering if people who post in the forums have a hard time on the dating side of this site. If you read a lot of a person's forum posts you can learn a lot about them - more than what is in the profile. That is certainly the case with me. Has anyone with a lot of forum posts hooked up with someone who does not chat in the forums? How did that work out?

If my forum posts scare someone, I'd terrify him in person. Better to know that ahead of time.

Hmm well I guess if you were interested in someone you could have a leg up so to speak if you read about their likes and dislikes before you met...hmm I think something I wrote worked in my favor though hehehe

If you can't handle me here....you darn sure wont be able to handle me in real life. Besides, what better way to get to know a person's sense of humor and outlook on life.

And I got my eye on a few in here.....ahem.... and I don't think it would hurt me....least I hope not....

I wish everyone here WOULD post on the forums and blogs because it gives you a very good idea of who they are that you don't see in emails. You get to see how they treat other people, and get a better idea of what makes them tick.

I agree with Annie....and Julia....and....oh heck I agree with everybody....just the kinda mood I'm in right now.

I personally am not too interested in someone who isn't interested in what I'm interested in....but I can be interested in a lot of things....as long as they're interesting......whew.....that took a lot out of me .....think I'll go rest now.........it takes a lot of mental energy to post on the forums......

P.S.......I have had people be turned off by reading my posts......saves time

If I hooked up with someone on MD, then I would be delighted for them to have read my forum posts, because it shows (partially, at least) who I am and what I believe in, what my preferences are, and what I will not tolerate. How could that ever be a bad thing?

forum posts - do they hurt your chances?

I'm not looking for anyone to date, but I think there is a point to this question.

I think a little mystery is attractive. To me, an online profile is just a teaser to get me to want to meet someone. If it tells too much about them (as it probably would if they have a lot of forum posts) it might diminish my attraction.

This doesn't mean that I don't want to learn about someone, it's just that I don't necessarily want to learn about them in that way. It seems sort of unromantic to me.

It may not be a deal breaker in every case, but it may be in some cases.

I think it'd only hurt you, if you posted in such a way as to not be yourself.

Do you really want someone that can't handle your opinions or your humor (or possible lack thereof?).

I think it seriously helps more than hurts.
