If you had to choose would you choose to be with someone who is a workaholic or someone who is "between jobs"? Does it matter?
For me, working is very important so I would not be with someone who was not employed. If, however, I was already involved with someone and they happened to lose their job, I would stay as long as they made a concerted effort to get a job. What do you think?

Recovering (with frequent lapses lately) workaholic here. I don't think I'd have a lot in common with someone who just wanted to take it easy, so I guess I'd have to agree.
At my age, most of my contemporaries are retired, which people who know me are betting I'll never do, so I'm already very familiar with that as a compatibility issue. It's probably the number one reason for the one date wonder syndrome for me. If we don't hit it off, it's one date, if we do, and they want to go out again in less than a week, I know it won't work out, so it's one date. Maybe one of these days I'll find a compatible semi-workaholic...meanwhile I'll just enjoy what I'm doing in the corporate circus...er, world.

Yep, slight difference between digging a five acre pond and maybe getting up at noon to go play a round of golf.
I'm usually in the office between 5 and 6, and settled down at home again some 12 hours later. Dating during the week? Or even more than once a week? I don't think so...

There there is ................ me.
I have not earned a nickel in a long time (savings took a bad hit) - yet I work around 18 hours a day and I do that pretty much seven days a week.
Self unemployed.
Changing my specialty in my business has taken me FOREVER lol - but I’ve finally just started back - I hope the heck it pays off.

Former workaholic here....finally have slowed down and am taking time to live. I still work but at a job where I do my 8-5, go home at night and don't think about the job until I hit the door at 8 the next morning. Big change from years of 60-80 hr workweeks, talking about work when not working, etc.
One thing I brought back from my volunteer vacation on the Blackfeet Reservation was that everything doesn't have to get done RIGHT NOW.....and that's okay!

If I had to choose? Someone inbetween jobs.
If I am dating I actually would like my date to spend time with me. I make enough money to buy a dinner here and there.
If I was married, I would want a workaholic. Someone has to stay home and take care of the 5 kids and 5 dogs!

Neither. Someone who knows the balance and value of being employed and spending time with the significant other.
Like money, like weight, work hours go up and down. I work with some workaholics, and the only thing I can say is they're married to their job.
I know people who used to spend a LOT of their time between jobs. Fun world for them, but when bills came due, it wasn't so much fun. =(

I want an in betweeny like Blondino.
I don't want a workaholic, had one, he never had time or energy to have any fun. I refuse to support another man, so he has to have some kind of income, doesn't have to be big, I am very low maintenance, but he better have enough to take care of things that need to be taken care of.
Now if he gets sick or hurt and can't work, that is a whole nother thing. I will work my butt off to support us. Been there done that, didn't mind it at all.

I think it all depends on where you are in your life. I really dont think there is a universal answer to this question. I have read the various replies and I realized whats good for you may not be good for the next person. In the event that I am hit over the head and decide to wed, my wife would only work if she wanted to. This wouldnt be a prerequisite to marriage in my case. Now if I were a mail man or something my feelings would probably be different. Everyones situation is different. I will say this. If one of the two are working and life has no hardships for you to bare, what difference does it make if you both of you make each other happy?
True happiness is a rare comodity. If you are able to find marital bliss consider yourself lucky. But then again, so many dont know how to leave well enough alone.

Hell I'm a workaholic too, I am at the office right now. I got off the plane and came here instead of home. The difference is I enjoy what I do.
