I guess that I am old fashioned also. I always pay for dinners, I open doors, etc. And I guess from what I have heard that I am a dinsosaur! That no one does that anymore. Maybe I should get with the times. ...... Nah, I like being me!

On the first few dates the man should pay, but after dating a while if the woman offers to pay then I'll let her some of the times. I was brought up that the man always pays also, but have learned it is OK for the ladies to pay once in a while.

I was brought up that if I'm asked out then the gentleman should pay. I have had to pay for a man's meal before and it kinda ticked me off. I agree with China if I suggest we go out then I will gladly pay my half but not the man's too. It just doen't seem right.

It's obvious you were dining with a woman that has respect as well as class. Many women of today are independent as well as very self-sufficient. I personally applaud, respect and appreciate women that are in fact able as well as willing to be a financial equal. You may just have a "keeper."............good luck.

Most of the "Man always pays" mentality was when men were making two or three times as much as their equivalent woman at a given job. So it was for a very valid reason. Generally that is thankfully no longer the case, and women do like to stand more on their own. So things like that are subject to change.
In my view, if there is an understanding the two of you have, then it should be followed, but if not, it could go either way, assuming incomes are similar. Generally it defaults to the guy, unless otherwise arranged. But I find a lot of women of today want to assert their financial independence, and pay almost as much as men do. I don't have a problem with that because their insight on the subject is very logical.
Then again, if she makes twice as much as he does, there isn't much logic in the guy picking up all the tabs, all the time. This doesn't really relate to opening doors, flowers, or other matters of chivalry or respect for women though, in my view. A woman should still be treated like a woman unless she insists otherwise.
However I try to avoid casino dates. I had one circumstance where my date expected to be financed by me for all her gambling expenses, since I was 'the guy'. And another situation where I won a jackpot and my date wanted her share of the take (about $1500) since she was along for the date. (different dates at different times). Both situations were a bit much, needless to say. I've simply got to screen more carefully!!

I think that is nice gesture when a guy wants to pay for the date. But it also ok too if the woman wants to pay. Try a date where you go dutch pay.

Pass the wheelchair, I may be that old school, but, the man pays. Men may (usually) make more than women, Men may (ususlly) be stronger than women The woman I want to know is the woman who is certain that nothing material that I can bring to the table is as valuable as her heart.
