I was feeling a little weak Friday and resorted to calling on a F--- buddy from the past. We went out, got all boozed up and she told me to hold her purse while she went to the restroom and hung it over my shoulder. I said "hell no! I can feel my wrist getting limp by the second." She gently slapped me on the cheek as I set the purse on the table. I waited at least so nobody would steal it. We still proceeded to do what F--buddies do. I should have left as soon as she got back, but I was half lit and on some sort of a quest to redeem myself, so I went home with her anyway. I completely interpret the purse hold test as an attempt to mark territory. I also think that is an example of how not being too nice works better to help keep a woman attracted to you. I didn't do that for the purpose of keeping her attracted, I just don't hold purses and things only got hotter from that point.
Anyone agree or disagree?

All these words because of one purse???
You have got to be kidding me. Darlin' you have way too much time on your hands.
Did it at all occur to you that she probably wanted you to hold her purse because she didn't have anywhere to put it in the restroom or didn't want it to get wet if she put on the sink? It didn't compute that it could have been as simple as that?
I can see where holding a purse for a lady makes you less of a man.

I've held a woman's purse because we were shopping and she wanted to hold some things up to see if they were worth a trip to the dressing room. Come to think of it I offered to hold it for her.
I think you are reading a little bit too much in the purse holding thing...;)

I agree that that incident was silly. We were drinking heavily after all and it wasn't that dramatic of a scene, but I was just using that as an example of all the "being too nice" and "territory marking" I read so much about here and on other forums. I'm mainly talking about the principle behind the incident, not necessarily the incident.
I expect a little bashing, so feel free to let me have it

I don't think I would construe it as "marking territory"... if you guys are just "bed buddies" whenever the mood strikes what kind of "territory" is that really? None as far as I can see......

I see it this way sordofa... Both of you were intoxicated in public place. She had a toxic plan..She leaves her purse with you, in full trust of it for the moments of relief...lol. she giving you body language that she choses you for the night! Also under toxication, her miind spinning around and puts the idea of maybe you would skip out on her while she was gone and take her purse or wallet and never see you again. Humm, she had a plan and it worked out.
On the other hand, she could have been a spy and had a bomb in that thing!!!!

You were aware that it's the frolicing naked with other men that makes one gay and not holding a woman's purse, right?

Sordo,
your so right - there are other methods they use to mark the turf. Sometimes I'm not even sure they realise they have done it.
lets see what others there are Mmmmmm:
1. Huge kiss or huge when you meet in public but only when your with your friends (female)
2. Making you wait.
3. being very affectionate in front of her friends when your new.
there are so many - we should start a list here (in fun)

ula.. the limp wristed comment was meant as a reference to being a puss, not a homosexual. I could have used a better phrase, but that's just what came out
@johnw....Yes! 1 and 3 definately, and public display of affection in general.

It's only considered "marking" territory when HER purse matches YOUR shoes

its always driven me nuts when women leave personal items at my home....
my g/f's have always gotten a bag with their possesions the next day, lol
unless you live with someone why scatter your belongings on their turf?
