What do you think when you see the same people on a number of dating sites?

What brings people to internet dating sites? They can't meet people in person?
They pass on the people they do meet? The people they meet pass on them? Are they asking to much? Do they write poor profiles? Are they too picky? Not serious about finding someone? I believe we all have reasons why we are without a relationship. I also believe it starts with ourselves.

I believe we all have reasons why we are without a relationship. I also believe it starts with ourselves.
I found myself alone in a relationship and gave her everything so I could leave with conscience intact as I do well. Now, I live and work in the middle of nowhere in a male environment. When I go away on time off, I stay in a hotel and, it's hard to compete with locals when you are a stranger as it seems most gals want stability. In a year or so I might settle somewhere in a larger town and actually get a life but,for now, am just 'bucking up' to purchase the equipment I need to restart a business that I'm moving from twenty five hundred miles away.
Guess you're right, it all starts with ourselves.

I am on a number of different sites, I think maybe I think that if I the right one is not on this site, perhaps he is on another. Some people are just on one site, so if I am really looking, and I am, I need to seek in more than one site.

And besides when you find someone you like on the paying sites,,,just be patient,,,they will show up on the free ones,,,,,, [e4
And I really like the part of how these sites "screen" their members,,,,you can on the christian sites and find married people seeking a little funsy,,,,,screen.....

Years ago, before "dating sites" existed, there were a few forerunners that gave some people the idea of starting a standalone dating site.
One of the earliest that I remember is AOL (it may have been the very first). I got my first AOL account back in 1991 when it actually ran on DOS! There was hardly anyone there (relative to today) and it was very clumsy.
I don't remember when they actually started the dating section, but I think it was in the mid 90s. When I put my "ad" up, I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced raisin bread! Eventually, more and more people signed up and it became a big success. I met a lot of people through that feature back in the mid 90s and enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately, AOL sold their database out to match.com some years later and that was the end of that. I tried match.com back then and it sucked.
As the 90s and early '00s progressed, more and more people got online and created a huge market for this kind of thing. And dedicated dating sites began to arise based on the successful experiments of the AOL dating site model. Now there are a bunch of them... MD being by far the best

I totally disagree with this statement. Many get frustrated with Internet dating for one reason, or another, so instead of trying new sites, they just cancel their account.
Just like in real estate, “You snooze, you loose!” Then one ends up with a life full of, “I wonder what could have been?” second thoughts.

We can all meet people in person and probably do. But if people are on numerous sites then it's thier business as to why. Yes MD is the best site for just about anything even outside "looking". Many friends are made and people get to know each other without it being anything more then that. From my expierience, some of the other sites in the past offered more people within a reasonable distance then MD does.. That is a factor for many. So I say like Loreli.. i don't think anything of it.. To each their own, right?
Painter, lock the door behind ya too hun, LOL.. ah n/m leave it open but do hide the pens.... And tell Eric it's just a blonde thing

Ever wonder if all the desirable people try a short stint on a dating site and leave and the only ones that stick around are the undesirables such as ourselves?

I've got profiles on at least half a dozen free sites around the net, but now i only use this one, and not even for dating purposes, just to pass the time and chill for a while. Although now that I have no need to pass the time here, I only come here when I'm smoking a ciggie, because my computer's in my smokin' room , and to check my mail and have a quick browse through the forums.
